Reflection Essay Introduction to Writing has helped me greatly over the past eight weeks, providing me with necessary writing skills, improving my grammar, writing mechanics, and much more. I took this course simply because my advisor recommended that I should, and it was also a requirement. Initially, I anticipated Introduction to Writing to just brush up on the writing skills I already possessed, but I must admit that I have learned a lot more than I expected to. I commenced Introduction to Writing with mere high school level writing skills, but after carefully taking this course I have learned countless, essential writing skills that enable me to write on the college level, such as, writing thesis statements, using APA format, citing sources, and using correct grammar and mechanics. The first thing I learned in Week one of Introduction to Writing was how to correctly create a thesis statement. Prior to taking this course I did not fully know how to write a strong and effective thesis statement. I learned a lot from the quiz, it improved my grammar skills in pronoun references. There was a question on there in particular that did not sound grammatically correct, though it was. The questions or scenarios that make me think the most are always the ones that improve my grammar skills. For each week of the course that a grammar quiz was given, there were helpful sources and exercises within the course that prepared me for each of the four quizzes. Introduction to Writing has helped my grammar and mechanics skills improve to a much higher level. Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
Today, we are writing an essay. Its content is about reflection and rhetorical analysis. What to reflect it? Reflections on what we learn. We have studied English for a long time. For our international students, from primary school, we learn the content and form of learning is similar to our own native language. When we learn to basic knowledge of English after. We began to learn new things. This knowledge is to make us more skilled use of the English language. So we started to learn writing. In the writing of a lot of knowledge, they like us to write our own language to write an essay. We need to improve our writing skills with a lot of writing skills. These writing skills can be a plus for our writing. It allows people to join them more interested.
Throughout the semester i only learned few new things but i did improve and solidify my skill of writing. Before my first year of college my skills have always undermined by other high school english teachers and with that came disappointing grades. I am writing this paper as a reflection of the semester and the progress i have made as a writer. I now understand many things that my high school teachers have done a poor job demonstrating and i am grateful that i decided to take my own route in my education instead of their syllabus. I entered the semester with anxiety that i would perform as i did before but i clearly outdid my own expectations by receiving top grades on my essays.

This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. English 102 has taught me a lot about my writing. Becoming a better writer and pushing myself to the next level was my goal for this semester. Writing for me has always been a love and hate relationship since I could remember. Depending on the subject matter that I was writing about I would enjoy it because it suited my style or I loathed it because that specific style was uninteresting and boring to me. Learning certain writing formats were absolutely the worst part about writing when I first started learning in high school. As time pushed on and I grew older I began to develop an appreciation for writing that I did not have before; which is what led me to taking Writing 101 as my first full-fledged college course.
