“Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination,” is stated by Drake. The journey maybe over but the destination is beautiful. Through this experience I have grow not only as a person but also a little muscle. The journey began that March 10th night and it ends at my county fair this April. Without the help of my sponsors, this journey would not have been possible.

After catching the calf at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, I knew it would be a good year. My goal that I wanted to achieve through this project was to win a buckle. I wanted to win a showmanship buckle. When I told people that was my goal, they knew I had it in me. I'm going to take you through my journey to achieving the buckle.

My local show is very competitive because our rival school has 22 head of cattle, but my school only has 7. I knew I had to win showmanship. When Dime and I walked into the ring I knew she was going to be a handful. The judge told me after asking me two questions that I was going to win it but he wanted to give the other top 4 a chance. We did oral reasons over the cattle that were in the ring. I had to evaluate a Santa Gertrudis heifer. The hardest question the judge asked was, “if we only had three cattle left on the planet, what would they be?” The correct answer was Brahman, Holstein, and Angus. Brahman for their hardness, Holstein for their high milk production, and Angus for their meat. After everyone finished answer this question, he finally got on the microphone and asked me to say my answer to the question and my reasoning. He said that I was the only one that got it right. He then awarded me champion showman. I started crying because it was my last school show and I came home as the Magnolia ISD Senior Heifer Showmanship Champion. Through all my years if show that was by far the best showmanship contest I have ever been
