The first artifact that I have attached for Standard Five: Professionalism is a reflection on professional practice, ethics, laws, and policies for ED 401: Introduction to Teaching. I completed this reflection during my pre-professional block in the spring of 2014. This reflection consists of my time observing the professional practices of a second-grade teacher at Elvin Hill Elementary School. How does the Dispositions Assessment demonstrate your knowledge of professional behavior and dispositions? The dispositions assessment demonstrates my knowledge of professionalism and proper dispositions through spending eight weeks in a fourth-grade classroom at Forest Oaks Elementary School. Exhibiting proper dispositions is important at all in order to educate students with diverse needs. Students have a range of behavioral and academic requirements and it is extremely important for an educator to remain patient in order to keep the learning environment stress free. It is also important to address specific accommodations and modifications in order for all students to receive the best education. It is highly important for teachers to keep student information confidential. Teachers should be a voice for students in order to give them the resources they need to thrive. It is the teacher’s responsibility to create a safe working environment for the students. If the students do not feel safe in their learning environment they are not going to thrive.
