It’s finally here; your big moment, your time to shine. You shift in your seat, adjust the papers in your binder. The discussion in the background has blended together, inaudible to you. “Don’t mess this up”, you think, and reiterate a few more times in your head. The dull mumbles crash into full volume as you hear your name; it’s your turn – you’re next on the agenda. You swallow hard, you clear your throat, and you stand up to shuffle your way to the presentation floor. Before you, sit about fifteen members of your board: some men, some women, some young, some old, and all equally as frightening at this very moment. After all, this is your first board presentation. Hopefully, if you ever find yourself in this situation, you’ve done …show more content…
Preparation is the key word. Properly preparing for your presentation will alleviate most of the stress that you carry on your shoulders when walking into that stuffy room. At this point you’ve done your homework. You understand your material, you understand your audience, you understand your process, and you inherently understand your mission. Now it’s time for the concrete work. Step 4: Get your materials together Put together a presentation packet. The audience doesn’t want to come into a presentation blind, nor does the presenter want a blind audience. Talk with the chair and clarify that he will be receiving your presentation latest one week before your presentation. Doing so will allow the board ample time to read your presentation and familiarize themselves with certain points that they may not be so experienced in. Make sure that your materials are themselves concise and not too wordy. Make use of bullet points, graphs, and any other way to make large amounts of data more digestible. Step 5: …show more content…
You can rest easy knowing that you presented to the best of your ability and that the board will now take that information and make the best decision that it can for the company. Don’t be discouraged if the board isn’t swayed your way; a successful presentation isn’t often gauged by if you’ve successfully persuaded the audience – at least in a board room setting. Maybe the board has information that you do not that advises them against this certain decision. Instead, gauge your success based on the personal goals that you set for yourself going into that room. Remember, next time you find yourself in front of a board, that they are the one with the tough, stressful decision; you are the one there to ease their
the challenge is to find a way to get into the meeting, as opposed to pointlessly sitting
...evision. I feel there are several simple things could be done that would make the meeting more accessible to not only first time attendees but also citizens in general. First of all by giving a very brief introduction to who the Council members are and why they are on the Council, as well as the who the people on the side bars are and what their purpose for being there. Just a brief background, five minutes at the tops, would give a background enough for newcomers to have a basic understanding of what is going on. Another thing that could be done to make it more accessible would be to explain the purpose of the meeting or to give out an agenda at the beginning. By attending this public meeting, I was able to see that the grandeur that is portrayed on television is very fake, but the importance is vastly downplayed.
Some barriers I faced while I was preparing the teaching project was trying to word the project so that the group could understand it. In addition, I had problems with trying to avoid giving to much information because I didn't want them to become disinterested. The developmental characteristics of the respective group helped me format the project suitable for learning and relevant to the participants. This was done so that effective teaching was done. Changes that I would consider if i had to do it again would be to post signs prior to the presentation so that perhaps more people would come and join.
After months of research and preparation, the moment I have anticipated for so long is finally here: the Georgia FBLA State Leadership Conference. Upon arriving at the conference, I head straight to room 211, rehearsing my presentation to the beat of my heels clicking against the tile floor. I am at the conference for one reason and one reason only: to become a state champion. Competing in the category titled Public Service Announcement, I have slaved over the production of a thirty second video for the past three months, perfecting every millisecond of it. With months of handwork and sleepless nights at stake, I refuse to go home without a first place win. If you’re not first you’re last.
Over the past year I have grown as both a person and a writer. My writing has improved
I did this by making sure that I added clear pictures, had a legible font, and nice colors to catch their attention. I wanted to make sure that my slides had the right amount words for the students to read. I knew that they would lose interest in my presentation if I added large paragraphs or had too many words to my presentation. I had a total of twelve slides. I read over my slides multiple times to make sure that everything was correct. Each of my slides had a lot of information about Countee Cullen, the Harlem Renaissance, and the poems that I researched. Also, I added the quiz to my powerpoint to keep the students on their
The presentation was also an impressive experience. I never made a presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedback from professor and other students was very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s goal was also kind of ambiguous.
Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. Sometimes the things I was writing didn’t flow well, or I might have even have missed glaring grammar mistakes.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
Our group will be discussing the issue of Economic Inequality. We will be using the
I practiced on a few participants and eager onlookers to shake the nerves that I had. By the time the judges came around I had a tailored speech prepared, and was able to present with little to no

Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.
I could have tried to make ti so that when I was done I could have tied the whole analogy together and made it connect to all the skills that I said I have improved on. For showing my progress as a learner I think the way that I presented was one of the main things that showed some of my progress making it so that you could actually here me when I was giving my presentation which is something that has always been a problem when I have to talk in front of people. I also think that even though at the end of my presentation I didn’t obviously say my over all opinion about how I have improved I thought my evidence that I had given through out the presentation worked well with the points that I was trying to say I improved on. Along with making sure that what I was comparing it to was very specific so that people didn’t start to think of another part of the project that I was using that I might to have improved on confusing them. Over all I think that my POL compared to others was not to bad. I think for sure that I did better then last year because of how I presented this time
My parents arrived in the United States hoping for a better future not for themselves, but for the baby they carried in their arms. We would often move from relatives ' houses since my parents couldn’t afford renting an apartment themselves. We were fortunate enough to have caring relatives who didn 't mind us living with them since they knew the hardships we were going through. I grew up in a household where only Spanish was spoken given that both my parents didn’t speak any English at all. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher was afraid that I would be behind the rest of my classmates, given that I only spoke Spanish fluently. I was fortunate to receive free tutoring from my kindergarten teacher. We would often read books together until
