Writing has never been a strong suit for me. Im more of a math and science guy which is why i never really put any focus in writing. Ive always tried avoiding writing but it sticks to me like glue and it almost never leaves my sight. Coming into college I struggled with writing and my organization was terrible. I never really did a lot of prewriting, I would just write up the final piece. In this class we did a lot of prewriting and I found it helpful. I have made progress from my previous years and I am proud of that. Before I would jump into in essay thinking that writing two to three pages was a lot and it would startle me and decrease my confidence in writing. Many prewriting strategies help me such as double journal entries, sketches, and cluster maps.
At the beginning of the year we wrote an in class essay that was a letter to a friend or family member and the purpose was to convince my reader to want to know more about my New York Times topic i was following. Before i knew what a double journal entry was , when i would find evidence i needed for my essay, i would just underline the quote and come back to it later and sometimes i forgot the thoughts i had about the quotation. After learning about them, When I am reading an article and I come across a quote that I can use in my essay the double journal entry helps me select the quotes I 'm going to use and explain them or give my thoughts about it at the moment, so i would not have to write the explaination later and forget what my thougts were about it. I learned that double journal entries are used to organize the evidence that will be used in my paper. This made my other essays easier especially in my other
