During the process of preparing for this diversified and involved assignment, there was a tremendous benefit in developing personal timelines covering the reading, analyzing, prepping, interviewing, and consolidating of the scheduled assignments. Similarly, my leadership role at work requires me to lead, analyze, plan, communicate, and ultimately deliver expected results on each assigned task. Delivery does not happen on one action or occurrence. It proceeds a methodical process which is reviewed and analyzed thoroughly in each step throughout the duration of planning and delivering. After all, I knew the different principles would be highlighted when coming across various situations in my leadership role at work. In furthering my growth as a leader, I recognized how advantageous this process would be in the overall development of the theories and gaining different and additional perspectives at a later time. This process was going to be critical for the entire interview project as I needed to lean on the objectives set forth in this activity. For instance, I immediately connected with What Leaders Really Do (Kotter, 1990), as John Kotter shares the differences between management and leadership. This entire assignment provided the opportunity to strengthen my leadership side as, “Leadership, by contrast, is about coping with change” (Kotter, 1990). Beginning my Master’s Program this term, I no longer had a sole role of being employed. I once again was a student and knew it was critical to manage personal timelines to incorporate school and prepare early for the required assignments.
