Final Reflection of Field Observations and Class Assignments
Current Issues Influencing the Field of Education
Productive Learning Environments
During my observations at IDEA Frontier I saw 2 ways of productive learning. One was a small group within kinder-2nd Grade. Small groups are formed with around 10 students in an ark shaped setting. Two rows would be form: Five in the front and five at the back. Usually the front students are the lowest performing students that you know will need the extra help. The second row would be students that you know that won 't need the extra help (high performers). Kids and adults go through it every single day. Schools should be safe places where kids can be kids and have fun. But of course, there is always that one kid that wants the attention and tries to get it. When students are bullied in school they don’t want to go back because they know it’s going to happen again. It stops their learning. Therefor they get behind.
Significance of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) were created to help and guide teachers in the classroom. TEKS are a guideline where teachers have to follow in order for students to meet Texas standards. TEKS are objectives that students should be mastered and have knowledge of when they graduate from high school. The Objectives given from TEKS are the main thing they should learn. The teacher can deliver the lesson the way she/he wants, but must follow the TEKS objectives.
Connection Between the Various Components of the Statewide Assessment Program
Using the TEKS objectives is essential to STAAR because that’s what the state will be looking for. Did they master the objectives? Were they delivered? Those are the questions that they are asking themselves. The whole school year is based on the objectives set by TEKS to take the
