Throughout the semester, my writing and thought towards writing has changed drastically. In my previous writing composition class, I didn’t have a passion for writing. The topics that we were assigned in WRC 1013 didn’t interest me nor relate to anything that was going on in the world. This all changed when I took this course. Because of the flexibility in this course to pick your own topics of essays assigned, I was finally able to write about something that I found interesting. Looking back from the beginning of the semester, I have become more educated when it comes to citing other authors’ work, page formatting with Modern Language Association, and brainstorming before writing a paper. One that specifically stands out to me is Politics and the English Language by George Orwell. Not only was this article very informative, but it also made me realize how much the English Language has changed for the worst. I wrote, “In many cases, I have experienced the misusage of words. Whether that is editing a peer’s paper, reading an article online, or even looking over my own writing. However I did provide evidence, I lacked to elaborate beyond the quote, which weakened my argument. In many instances during my “Global Warming” essay, I would not clarify exactly where I got specific evidence. For example, I stated “However, most are unaware that one of the biggest concerns in environmental politics facing is global warming and how it’s affecting our daily lives.” (Global Warming, 1).
