STATEMENT OF LEADERSHIP
Reflecting on my roles and accomplishments in leadership in business, I can define leadership as the creation of a favorable culture under which an individual or a group of people can successfully carry out their roles. Leadership is all about assessing the environment wherein tasks are handled, with an emphasis on applying different strategies to overcome the challenges while increasing the opportunities; thereby, enabling individuals to fulfill their given roles. Some of the elements of strong leadership involve setting and communicating clear visions and boundaries, giving people the latitude to perform their tasks, monitoring ongoing achievements against the established vision; and continually assessing opportunities for improvement. Others are the involvement of all individuals in business by encouraging them to own the goals of the organisation or projects, and embracing positivity through the application of caution, courage, and determination. A further understanding of my application of these leadership attributes can

I have hoped that the studies will include an extensive coverage of corporate management, with emphasis on leading organizations towards maximising profits while upholding the agenda of the environment and benefit to communities. My intention is to capitalize on the course content as a foundation for enhancing my ability to develop business models that integrate the agenda of sustainable management. Leaders must always be willing and able to rise above the emerging challenges. Currently, sustainability is among the core objectives of corporate management in the world of business. These issues often arise in various committees where I serve as an executive and non-executive
The topic of leadership has been explored and written about by thousands of authors who are considerably more qualified than I am to write about the subject. However, I’ve always maintained that developing, evolving and articulating one’s own leadership philosophy is an essential part of a professional’s growth. Through academics and experience, I’ve concluded that leadership is a “soft” skill, more art than science, and that leadership principles can be universally applied. As a topic of discussion, leadership can be ambiguous and seldom does everyone agree on a single definition. Organizations and the people they consist of crave leadership, even if not overtly. Undeniably, strong leadership is essential to achieving
Leadership is not a position but an action that is undertaken by an individual. Leadership is not just about giving orders, yet it is the action of serving others. According to Robert Townsend, “A leader is not an administrator who loves to run others, but someone who carries water for his people so that they can get on with their jobs” (2013). A good leader will support his or hers employees because a leader is not judged on their own actions, but they are judge on the success of those that they support. In the modern era, we look at business leaders in the same way that historians view military commanders or kings of the past.
‘Leadership’ and ‘Management’ are two commonly using words in nowadays organizations. The essential and integral part of productive management is leadership. Effective leadership is crucial to an organization’s success. Leaders can take a quantity of different steps to help keep projects from failing. The main and highly important focus of the leader is to make things happen. According to Griffin (2008), ‘Leadership, as a process, the use of non coercive influence to shape the group’s or organization’s goals, motivate behaviour toward the achievement of those goals, and help define group or organizational culture; as a property, the set of characteristics attributed to individuals who are perceived to be leaders’. Equally as management, that
Real leadership of today is about transforming the system (Denning, 2012). How do you get what you need from your staff to make your business successful? It is about influence and transformation. Leadership is being able to stand up to the norms and take a stand. It is not always easy nor is it always the most popular thing to do. It can prove to be lonely. Launching leadership from the past the Michigan study demonstrated that a leaders behavior of focus on the job and the employee are essential to be an effective leader (Robbins, Decenzo, & Coulter, 2013).
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
He makes sure that the purpose for which an organization is made is rewarded. In other words, a leader is one who is competent of moving the organization in the direction set by him which he considered in a specified way fits. While having certain leadership competencies and skills, a leader should have the ability to adapt to different leadership style and behaviors to achieve organizational goals and objectives. At the individual level, leaders who are able to convince, motivate and direct employees will often be rewarded by devotion and performance of their employees (Mosadegh and Yarmohammadian, 2006). Leadership is an essential part of the activities of management of people and directing their efforts towards the goals and objectives of the
According to our leader’s legacy book written by Kouzes and Posner, leadership is the influence and impact of an individual. More precisely, “Leadership is a relationship between those who aspire to lead and those who choose to follow” ( Kouzes, 2006. p 52). Also, a good leader is one that can turn every person that they may lead into a teacher. Therefore, the legacy will continue and an impact is made. Having such effect on someone life is due to the enthusiasm, organization, discipline and passion that the leader may have for his/her work. These traits are also the determining factor if a person “stay, perform at their best, wow customers, or be motivated to share the organization’s vision and values” (Kouzes, 2006. p
Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence, support and trust among the people who need to achieve organizational goals. (Chan & Maubourgne 1992) It invariably requires using power to influence the thoughts and actions of other people in order to create new approaches and imagine new areas to explore. This definition has emphasized on influencing people to achieve set goals. In other words, we can say, the objective of leadership is achieving goals, meanwhile, the application is influencing other people to motivate the energy and stimulate the potential towards the goals.
The leadership is a privilege and it is such a privilege and an honor which will carry the tremendous responsibility which will inspire others to direct them to accomplish goals and vision of the organization. Leadership is about influencing the people, by producing direction, purpose and motivating in order to accomplish the mission, vision and improving the organization. The leadership philosophy is evolved based on the experiences, both positive and negative, in most of the initiatives and activities that we undertake. It is also one among the collaboration and teamwork within which the team members can utilize each other’s strengths to counter the weaknesses of the individuals. By observing, introspecting and experimenting we can developed a leadership paradigm which is inclusive, collaborative and proactive. We can develop the ability to recognize which will approach in order to reach the productive conclusion. The great leaders know their limitations and are capable at utilize their strengths and also the strengths of others to compensate.
Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. Leadership is leading a group of people or company to reach a result or further and the organization. A leader is supposed to be an example of how all employees are expected to act and what they should be striving for. Good leaders also don’t use their position within a company to take advantage of the company and its employees. A good leader is supposed to be able to perform their job with high standards, efficiency, and honor. However, for every good leader, there are bad leaders and the worse the leader the more detrimental he or she becomes to employees and the company they run. Poor leadership skills can ultimately ruin a company 's chance of success. The attitude
There are certain essential elements that constitute the definition of leadership. It may refer to the totality of an organization’s top direction-giving functionaries, or the actions applied in providing direction that enables the organization or team to move forward towards a goal. In reality, there are very diverse definitions of leadership depending on the context. Grint’s (2010) summary of leadership definitions that includes the position, the person, the results, and the process, provides a comprehensive view of leadership. While not absolute, this view covers much of the areas where there is consensus on the definition of leadership.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. The leadership can be classified as a cornerstone of the organisation. It is inevitable to understand how strong this cornerstone is because it has the power to make or break the entire organisation. It can be characterised as current and timeless with the centralised stance within the human interaction. This paper discusses the most important aspects of leadership in modern businesses, the challenges leaders face in organisations, the strategies to overcome them and provides some examples for added clarity. Successful leaders understand that some challenges are more obvious than other ones and therefore it requires different actions to achieve the desired result. The research also reviews some theories of leadership in relation to those challenges and leads the reader towards understanding the significance of the provided information for the leaders in the organisations.
”Leadership involves the exhibition of style or behavior by managers or supervisors while dealing with subordinates; leadership is a critical determinant of the employees ' actions toward the achievement of the organizational goals” (Saeed, Almas, Anis-ul-Haq, & Niazi, 2014). Leadership is a strength that initiates, inspires, and guides the cooperation and attitudes of others on the way to set vision. Many people associate leadership with a specific job title or form of power within an organization. However, through personal experience, I have concluded that leadership can come in many forms and position as well as from multiple sources of roles and job titles both with and without power. Based on the definition of leadership, anyone can be considered a leader as long as they have the ability to influence people to achieve a particular result or goal which benefits the organization or group as a whole. Individuals with a secure sense of self and understanding, acceptance of diversity within an organization tend to be the strongest leaders that not only make others want to follow, but they also encourage other leaders to gravitate to their
