1- Reflect over the last term. What should you have done differently? How would that have impacted your life and outcome of the term? I should have spent more time studying bio and making friends. If I had devoted more of my time to Bio I would have probably made a better grade in the class, but I felt like I already didn’t have enough time to get everything done. I also wish I had branched out more at the beginning of the year and made more friends. One of my roommates is a friend from my high school though, so I feel like I stayed in my high school friend group when I came to college. I definitely made new friends, but If I had branched out in my bio class I could have gotten to know other people and I could have formed study groups with …show more content…
I saved money by using the meal plan the school requires you to pay for and not buying a ton of groceries or eating out all the time. I did not have to buy really any groceries except for a few essential healthy snack items and the only time I spent money eating out is if I had a gift card to that restaurant. I would also grab things from the cafeteria to take for later snacks like oranges, apples, and beagles, so I wouldn’t have to buy them at the store. I have also been smart by politely turning down manicure invitations, or shopping invitations, from my roommates and friends, so I wouldn’t spend money. I don’t really think I’ve made a financial mistake. There are time when I probably shouldn’t have had that mint Oreo milkshake from the cookout that is right off campus, but there are also times when you are having a bad night and just need to do a little dollar fifty splurging. If there was any mistake it would be those …show more content…
I’ve loaned money to friends when they did not have enough to get something at a fast food place, and they have done the same to me when I forgot my wallet or something. If the charge was minimal I usually tell my friends not to pay me back, but there has also been times this semester when we have had to decide what roommate needs to buy what at the grocery store. My roommates and I are usually very understanding when it comes to food and we usually volunteer when we feel it is our turn to buy certain items that the whole group uses and I feel like we have kept it out system pretty even. When it comes to money if it is a minimal charge and someone forgets to pay me back I usually let it go because I know there will be a time later down the road when my friend will do the same for
General food: Dorm dwellers may have a pre-paid college cafeteria plan, while students living off-campus will pay their food bills on a weekly basis. Either way, it's good to figure out how much you'll spend at the grocery store and in restaurants.
5. What would you do differently if you had it to do over? (Consider this as you plan for tomorrow).
Do you ever wonder why students in college are always in debt? Students in college are always low on money because of the student loan they take out. Taking out a student loan isn’t a good thing. You can take another path on paying for college. After taking a loan out for college you soon become broke and can’t afford anything else.
In life, a person experiences different types of situations that bring forth certain emotions and behaviors. Oftentimes, it benefits people if they try to look inside themselves to discover why they act a certain way during various moments of their lives. In this essay, I will be investigating my own reactions to life events and discovering certain positive elements that should be encouraged or any negative aspects of my behavior that need to be changed.
However, most students would agree that whether or not they are a necessity, superfluous amounts of money are spent on them throughout the year by the majority of college students. Going into a new school year is stressful and being accepted physically by your peers is something that is big with the younger college students. Many kids will spend an unnecessary amount of money on clothes, shoes, and accessories each year to fit the new trend or just to look decent enough every day in classes. According to college.lovetoknow.com, a single student will spend between five hundred dollars to one thousand dollars on clothes annually. Being a young college student with many things to think about and being on your own, it is hard to keep up with a budget for extra spending. This is the only way, however, to keep from spending unnecessary money. By having a mindset to get only what is needed for you, and by setting a budget, money spent on clothes, shoes, and accessories will be cut
2. What personal values, skills and interests worked best to help you progress towards your goals this semester? Did you expect this to be the
This semester could have gone better, my time management efforts would have greatly benefited my grades if I had improved them more early on. I found myself still struggling with old habits and staying up late to finish assignments that could have been done already if I had just planned ahead. This work did not fair as well grade wise as assignments that I took time to write and send to either Arlene or meet with the writing support center to go over. In the same time management regard I feel as though I could have prepared better for smaller quizzes, as that was a major downfall of mine in Theory. Multiple times with very easy assignments and quizzes I would neglect to do them in a timely manner or I would not take the quiz grade as seriously and not prepare accordingly. I will use the time management and planning strategies Arlene helped me develop to improve these areas and take advantage of easy to earn
Poetry is a self-reflection of life and the nature of living things. It is created by the author’s own life stories, emotions, and thoughts. Everyone will experience and remember the happiest moment in life, also the lowest point that occurs. Sometimes the worst time such as bereavement can cause a trauma and grief. Besides, it will become the stain in their mind for the whole lifetime. Because of this reason, all poets use their personal life experiences as the motivation to write the poem. By looking at the poems of Elizabeth Bishop, Jack Gilbert, and Natasha Trethewey, we can see how the loss of important people in their lives has influenced their writings.
I have always been one to spend my time watching things that others wouldn 't think to watch. I have seen things like “The Wind Rises” by Hayao Miyazaki, “Queen” by Vikas Bahl and my favorite “Mary Kom” by Omung Kumar. From documentaries to animes, to silent films. I have dabbled in a little of everything so far. I am known to watch a few of these to pass my summer as well. So, when it came time to watch the foreign film “The Lives of Others” directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, I was fully aware of what to expect. From the subtitles to funny English accents, to sharpening my skill of being able to read the words and focus on the action at hand. You could say I 'm somewhat of an expert in those areas. Thank you anime! The movie was
Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. After a few weeks, I learned ways that would work best for me, for example writing down that I needed to get done. I learned that I need to focus on what 's ahead of me to accomplish what I want to succeed in, to manage what needs to be done ahead of time to stay caught up.
But consider this question for a moment: what is your single biggest regret from the past four years? If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be? I asked Ms. Parks to pose this question to two classes full of Seniors and I have here some responses. For those of you who answered, thank you very much for your honest and thoughtfulness.
Personal Development is a lifelong process that involves the assessment of current skills and talents and the enhancement of oneself based on that assessment which then leads to the realization of goals and an improved quality of life. To be able to assess yourself, you need to be able to reflect on your past which helps you to understand the attitudes you have developed and the foundation that you will be building your life on. Also, you have to reflect on your present to see if there’s room for improvement and reflect on your future so that you can achieve your aspirations.
One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set forth by others. The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my eyes:
“A student of life considers the world their classroom” – Harvey MacKay. This quote exemplifies what I aspire to become, a student of life. This is a person who is constantly learning, growing, and evolving, and using the lessons they learn as their platform. In order for one to become a student of life, I believe that learning experiences don’t necessarily always have to happen in the classroom. I have found that through traveling and real life experiences, my way of thinking about life and how things happen has been shaped with a broader understanding of knowledge, rather than just by sitting in a classroom and taking notes. I feel strongly that the traditional model of learning is very effective and that there is much to be learned in this manner, however being able to take what you learn and apply it on a much deeper level through visiting new places and experiencing new cultures and cuisines has helped me develop myself further and become a more well rounded individual.
College students on the other hand learn to save their allowance as they grow and meet different requirements in school. Entering college is an exciting and important part in student life. It is where they learn to be an independent person. There are many different tasks that need to be done in order for them to be successful. One specific area where many college students have difficulty is learning how to manage their allowance effectively and wisely.
