I currently want to continue to grow as a learning lab specialist finding ways to improve as each day passes. I would love an opportunity to eventually lead a group of learning lab specialists to help our students go onto graduate and be successful in a college setting. However, that is not my end goal. I truly believe our saying,

I grew up in a very strict and disciplined household. I became worn out with it mentally and socially after I graduated high school. I felt the freedom of an 18 year old arriving to college as a freshman. I did attend my classes, however I did not always have my priorities straight with academics. This directly related to a lower graduating GPA. I then went on to pursue a very successful medical career in the military earning civilian certifications that are equivalent to a Registered Nurse. I left the military to pursue a higher education in the medical field. I

It is leadership’s role to provide the tools to properly navigate the road to engaging excellence beginning with a focus on personal and organizational introspection that includes a self- examination, self-observation – even a bit of soul searching of organizational and personal values, goals and aspirations.
I plan to help my community grow as I continue to take on into journey of success. Leadership, has shown me the importance of having power and knowledge. For my future I plan to lead and stay true to my beliefs. In school I lead the young to not give up on their dreams. Everything is possible if your willing not to give up.
Many of my peers from grade school went on to four year universities with honors and scholarships. For myself graduating high school was the highest achievement thus far. I was not the most outstanding student during those years. I was insubordinate towards my educators and refused correction. I was known as a class clown and trouble maker. Unfourtantly mentally I did not consider myself to be a difficult individual, but special. I am
Today’s resiliency leaders require unique skill sets to be successful in any organization. This discussion will focus on leadership as described by Robert Dees in The Resilience Trilogy, Resilient Leaders text. The points made in the book can be personally related. The three most important concepts learned from chapter 1 and 2 are tribulation, risk management, and selflessness. It is crucial for anyone is seeking to delve into leadership that everything will not happen as planned all the time. After a leader experience failure, knowing the avenues to take to regain a solid footing is also key to successful leadership. Often leaders who are unaware of available resources fold and give up. In the military profession, when someone gets knock down they get up brush themselves off and get back in the fight.
The organizational leadership curriculum enlightened me to behaviors which I practiced but now I could identify them. Leadership traits founded on Integrity which was so important to me throughout my journey, wanting to operate above reproach, exemplifying fairness and emotional intelligence towards my coworkers. The last few months of my journey has been very rewarding for me. I became a senior in college and was promoted to the operations manager of Nestle Distribution Company for the south eastern United States. This achievement is the epitome of way open for
When I was on a post surgical floor I witnessed a scenario where leadership was ineffective. It involved an RN and the nurse manager for the floor who was responsible for assigning the patients to nurses. The nurse manager on this floor usually only had one or two patients and spent most of their time dealing with any problems that arose on the floor. One RN was very upset with her patient load and said it was unfair and wanted to have at least one less patient as she said all 5 of her patients were going to be a lot of work. The nurse manager dismissed the RN and said there were care aides on floor to help so she would be fine and told her to get to work. The leadership issues here were a lack of communication
There are several ways to define leadership, but what sets effective leaders apart from commonplace managers are their extraordinary actions and the successes that result. In The Leadership Challenge, James Kouzes and Barry Posner claim leaders that employ The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership are much more effective than those who do not (2012, p. 25). This paper will be reviewing my assessment findings, exploring my strengths and weaknesses, examining my personal-best leadership story, and detailing a specific area of development.
Growing up I had always been asked the infamous question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", and my answer had always been a shrug or a simple "I don 't know yet". If I was asked the same question now, I could confidently and very passionately say, "I want to be a doctor; a humanitarian who brings positive change in someone 's life.". It seems like a very general statement but I truly hope to one day become somebody who can use her expertise and profession to help others.

One of the topics in organizational development today is leadership. Leadership is what individuals do to mobilize other people in organizations and communities. According to Kouzes & Posner, there are five practices and ten commitments of exemplary leadership. The five practices of exemplary leadership include: Model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart. In the Leadership Challenge, Kouzes and Posner found similar patterns and actions of leadership that created the essentials to achieve success. Utilizing the research conducted by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, I have created a leadership plan that would apply to the Admission Department at Texas Wesleyan University.
...my education at Concord University studying Elementary Education. After graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Education, I plan to get a job as a teacher in an elementary school. I believe that there is a need for compassionate and caring teachers in elementary schools. At such a young age, I believe that it is important for elementary students to have positive role models in their lives. I am very interested in pursuing my Masters Degree at some point, but my main goal is to get out into the school system as a teacher.
My ultimate career goal is to be a general human resource manager or recruiter for a high-tech or pharmaceutical company. These are industries in which I foresee great potential for growth in the future. I enjoy every aspect of my major, and I look forward to the variety of tasks and obstacles I will face as an H.R. manager. The prospect of interacting with people on a daily basis appeals to me immensely in a job.
Organizations have leaders who are effective and ineffective. Many of us want to be leaders but, do we have what it takes to be effective or are we going to be ineffective. Leaders are people who build their organization and employees up. Ineffective leaders are those who only care about getting a check. This paper will discuss effective and ineffective leaders. The effective and ineffective leaders I have had the pleasure to work with.
My journey as a student has always been focused on the path to college and success. Before I even set foot in kindergarten my mother, a college dropout, always told me that “honor roll wasn’t an option” and that I would be attending college in the future and achieving a degree. Most of the time I made these requirements. Most of the time I was awarded honor roll or had a newly edited list of colleges to attend, but sometimes life got in the way of my dreams of achieving success.
