QVC Reflection
Introduction
The name of our project was the Swallet, the Swallet is a wallet that sorted money for you making future transactions easier and less time consuming. Our project manager was Jacob Waltman. The task given to me was to do the commercial for the product. I think the task was given to me because I have made videos in the past making me experienced with the software. Having me, an experienced video maker make the video relates to the scientific management theory as each person is chosen to do a certain task that the manager feels they are good at. I feel like I could have done a better job on the video by implementing more footage of the people in our group instead of clips from other commercials.

The theory has 14 principles that are the main factors for successful management and a successful company. Some of these principles applied to our groups work and really helped the efficiency rate of the work that was done. Firstly division of work, according to Henri Fayol this means that a person works in a field they specialize in and enjoy. This applies to the Swallet group as we all got given tasks by Jacob that we could do best and enjoyed. Just as I wrote above about the commercial which was the task given to me, this applies to this theory as I enjoy making commercials and am experienced and good at it making me a great fit for the task. Another principle that applies is the degree of centralization which means that the leaders of the organization should branch out to the people in the lower parts of the organization making decisions together. Whenever an issue arises in the group and a decision had to be made we came together to solve the issue and moved on as a group. Whether it was to decide the name of the group, what we should do for the video or the actual product the decisions were made together. One more principle that applies to our group is initiative. Whenever a group member was not present we did not wait for them to come back in order to move on we used our time wisely and got what needed to be done and what could be done without them. If I am good at math and another person is good at science we can help each other in order for each of us to succeed and get good grades in both classes. Scientific management states that certain jobs will be given to the people who prefer and are good at those jobs which is why in high school choice of courses is given in order for each person to find their place where they can strive and
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile,the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.

... that areas of expertise can be exploited, different people are good at different things. Groups can discuss material, and that discussion can improve the quality of the decision. Groups are less likely to suffer from judgmental biases that individuals have when they make decisions. People are more likely to follow through on decisions made by groups that they are connected to. Also, more monumental decisions can be made in groups, because one member will not be singled out for blame, making the entire group responsible.

A group can be define as ‘any number of people who (1) interact with one another; (2) are psychologically aware of one another and (3) perceive themselves to be a group’ (Mullins, L, 2007, p.299). Certain task can only be performed by combined effort of a group. Organisation can use groups to carry out projects, which will help to achieve its overall aim. However, for the group to be successful they must understand what is expected of them and have the right skill to complete the task. . (Mullins, L, 2006)
Working in groups can be a very positive or very negative experience. How a group functions together determines how positive or negative that experience becomes. All go through four stages of development, forming, norming, storming, and performing.. Unfortunately for our group, many of the members experienced some of these stages together and other missed out on that opportunity of original growth. Kirst-Ashman and Hull describe these stages as a pattern of development. This allows the group members to see how they are working together but also allows observers to see what stage the group is stuck on. I had hoped for my group to develop past the first stage of development quickly, however as a whole we couldn’t seem to get over this limbo of being a forming or norming group. Our group was not the best functioning, but working together taught me the important pieces of being a group member as well as working within a group.
Carly who is trying to be successful in her career; uses the Jack’s team for major showcase advertisement because they are willing to go extra mile by working in weekends, and his team is very is very talented. This way Carly gets the most work done in efficient manner, and gets to build strong network with her customers by make them happy. While she neglects the work of other team; who is also trying hard to be in group with Carly, but Carly does not notice their work or simply thinks it is going to be challenging for them. According to LMX theory, leadership making emphasize that Leader should always develop high quality relationship with all of their followers rather than just a few. It attempts to make every follower feels that they are important, and he or she is part of the in-group. It avoids the inequalities and negative implications of being in out of group. Carly by not being fair to all her followers, she is creating inequality in her workplace that results into dissatisfaction and low morals in Julie and Terry’s team. Scientific management is a way that an organisation regulates its staff within a workplace. The theory behind this is accomplished by selecting the ‘best person for the best role’, who will undertake the training to train each worker to do a ‘specific role the right way’ (Frederick Taylor). This extracts the responsibility from the employee whilst handing over executive decisions to the employer to make strategic decisions. Frederick Taylor required the managers to set the tasks for the employees in advance and that each task was to be detailed to each employee, to be done in a certain way and completed in an exact time no less. I chose for Tuck man 's model of group development just there which are forming, storming and performing. And how they are related to my group such as, forming is related because I I saw we need someone to take responsibility, I took it. Scientific Management also has a relationship with today’s environment because it has two advantages. Firstly, compare to the past, management is getting more scientific. It aims to unearth and cultivate workmen’s endowment, let them have the best performance in their work ---to obtain the highest efficiency farthest. Taylor said that the enormous increasing in production efficiency was the evident distinction to differentiate which a nation was civilized one or not. Realizing that a group can become a high performance team is important. Accomplishing this goal is invaluable, advantageous and profitable. Once able to operate from a group to the high performing team is a great step into preparation into the big business world. Leaders and members must also realize not only how to accomplish this but that some problems will and can arise from different demographic characteristics and cultural diversity. That is if one is in such a group, which the probability would be quite high.
I will fund my exhibit through donations and sales. I would reach out to the community, explain my exhibit and ask for donations, but I would primarily generate revenue through selling items related to the exhibit like prints of the works being shown, creative posters, key chains, t-shirts and other mementos. Additionally, I would have bake sales and fairs and other activities of a similar nature.
The above essay gives clear idea about the teamwork. There are different types of team in the organization, which is very essential for the business. The theories of belbin (1993), Tuckman and Jensen (1977) shows the nine teams role and five stages of development which are very important for any team building and also in belbin theory there is practical example of the company who used the nine team role and win the award and tuckman theory has been criticed by authors, and the example of teamwork given by Apple Inc. Ceo Steve jobs and Microsoft shows important of teamwork in their organization. Therefore I came to the conclusion that teamwork is a for the organization and very helpful in achieving the task on time.
