Recommended: Essay about digital literacy

At its most fundamental level, I believe that teaching is about engaging the mind. This is to introduce students to a conceptual framework with which they can start from a deep and profound way to make sense, understand and actively produce and alter the dynamic technical world. It is about inspiring students to reflect intelligently about diverse macro- and micro-level technical issues. Furthermore, in my experience, teaching is not a one way process of imparting knowledge; even with a less skilled group of students, the teacher undergoes a continuous process of learning new ideas and perspectives over the same body of knowledge. In short, for me, teaching is about challenging and inspiring students to think.

My postgraduate dissertation was based on simulation of GSM and UMTS speech security protocols A5/1, f8 and f9. I have created a user-defined Simulink block in Matlab and simulate complete GSM model. Later on, I have extended my work and simulate speech security protocols A5/3, UEA and UIA for GPRS, EDGE and LTE systems. These works have enlarged my knowledge in simulation, network security, object orientation programming and other signal processing areas like speech and image processing. My research informs my teaching and my teaching has helped enlighten my research. My research which cuts across the boundaries separating signal processing, Video coding, content security and information theory. My research work was based on selective video encryption in the H.264/AVC compressed domain.
