Reflection for Leadership for Today 's Schools
After completing all of your coursework, what jumps out as having a significant impact on your learning?
This course was very informative, inspiring and thought provoking. I did a masters in Educational Leadership in the United States. That course never provided me with the information that I currently received. I was never exposed to Transformation, Transactional Leadership and Servant Leadership. The focus was only on Instructional Leadership.
In retrospect, I believe my professors wanted to prepare me to be effective in my role as a building leader without being tied up with “unnecessary” information. However, I believe that the knowledge of the other frameworks of leadership can help me to be a better instructional leader. I can move around the different perspectives when I am handling different situations.
In what ways did you increase the depth and breadth of your knowledge related to leadership?
My depth of knowledge has increased because I like the focus on being a change agent. This course has given me the ability to work along with others to develop a vision, mission and strategic plan to conquer issues affecting any school that I may be called to serve. The title of this course is called “Leadership for today’s schools.” However I would like to rename it “Leadership for today and future schools.” Why am I proposing a name change?
