What community service project(s) have you done to this point? List and give a number of hours. I have taken as many opportunities as I can to volunteer my time to the community. I personally have a great passion for helping others. The services I have done so far include: Fright Night at Sacred Hearts Academy (4 hours), Citizen Patrol of Honolulu (86 hours), student ambassador at Sacred Hearts Academy (25 hours), Sacred Hearts Spring Show Case (4 hours), FAST for A Better Tomorrow (5 hours), Rotary Club of Hawaii Kai (30 hours), Sacred Hearts Science Symposium (5 hours), Sacred Hearts Auditorium cleaner (6 hours), Sacred Hearts Academy Office (36 hours), and services for the Soroptimist Club (32 hours). Most importantly, this course has taught me the importance of shaping a good society, to choose to serve rather than to consume. From services for the charity, I learn that sharing God’s love with the world through volunteer contributes to the good of society. Sharing God’s love by providing important goods and services with a joyful and caring attitude has help me to understand the importance of serving the community rather than to be caught up in greed. My volunteer has also given be greater insight in choosing to live as a disciple of Jesus. The theology course defines disciple as someone who chooses to follow Christ for the purpose of becoming like him in every part of life. From my service for the Young Athletes Program, I learn to serve the community as Jesus did. To a accept others even if they may not match the ideal societal definition of normal. Moreover, as a disciple of Jesus, I learn to view kids with down syndrome as gifted children’s with great abilities; they’re no different from any other child. Living as a disciple of Jesus means I am not to judge others and I was able to gain greater insight in the concept of judgment and discipleship through my service. Lastly, I also was given a greater insight in the theology concept of the Role of Women in the early church. From my services, I learn to live and the women of the early church because they were dedicated in Christianity’s acts of worshipping. The women gave up their wants in return to serving their community. The women have influenced me into doing the same, in which I am voluntarily accepting opportunities to help others.
