LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION HIGHLIGHTS Describe yourself using three positive adjectives. I am creative, passionate, and outspoken. I have always channeled my creativity into problem-solving and project creation. For example, during my internship with Velvet Frame, I independently came up with the idea for a fellowship and designed a creative open-space structure for the fellowship in which flexible and dynamic action groups would be created organically based on student responses and groupings from a question. I also use my creativity to analyze problems and ideas from unorthodox or unique perspectives. For example, a recent debate topic centered around gun control. I participated in two internships, one with a social change & environmental consulting agency and one with the Orange County Human Relations Commission. For the former, I independently created a framework, curriculum, educational materials, and funding sources for an activist fellowship and helped run the blog. I also attended coaching sessions for social entrepreneurship and activism, including applying ecological principles to collective action & studying ecosystems as models for self-sustaining institutional structures. For the latter, I researched and analyzed implicit bias to create curriculum for implicit bias trainings for educators as part of the BRIDGES program, which addresses intergroup contact, bullying, and hate acts in Orange County schools. I also worked on my fellowship with the Sierra Club, working on creating educational materials about the intersection of reproductive justice & the environment. Additionally, I attended the Student Conservation and Climate Congress with the Green Schools Alliance and worked on my fellowship with them, studying student environmentalism. I snuck out of my house to attend the rally, which included an automobile procession and a march. While at first I was highly intimidated, by the end of the rally I felt more comfortable and realized how my fervor and passion for social and political change could be actualized. I met tons of inspirational, friendly, and welcoming people that showed me that working for social change is possible and made me consider careers in community and non-profit organizing. After this rally, I significantly increased my involvement in activism by starting to work on my Take Back the Tap campaign and searching for more opportunities to get
