In her opinion, peace is the absence of conflict, and when discussing her spirituality, she considers it her personal peace. It is where the mind is at equilibrium and stops fighting itself and everything is quiet and balanced. With this quiet, she feels immense freedom because she has broken out of all the inner turmoil and self-doubt and feelings of mediocracy. She can get peace through constantly reminding herself to let go of everything she is overthinking, and by turning to friends and family. She can also find peace and joy in her all-time favorite Bible verse, Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and He saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This is a constant reminder of the promises that will be fulfilled to her if she remains steadfast in her faith, and also a reminder that even when the people around her fail her, her faith never will. It is His constant reminders of His presence that have kept her afloat through tough times, and will continue to do so. To maintain her current peace, she has to stay focused on what she really wants to get out of this life. In her life, where everything is constantly changing, she has found that she has a deep desire for consistency. Friendships fizzle out, families are full of arguments, and on her own she is completely lost, so all she has to depend on to keep her grounded is her faith in God and His promises of eternal love and family. For many years after her father’s death, she never really found anything that filled the empty void in her heart until she found God’s love.
