I volunteered at the Charlotte Schmidlapp Children 's Center because I am attending Mount St. Joseph to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. The Children’s Center (Charlotte Schmidlapp Children’s Center) is located on the Mount’s campus and it provides affordable child care for the Mount’s community. I chose to volunteer at the Children’s Center because I love working with children and I love giving back to my communities in any way that I can. While volunteering at the Children’s Center I felt warmth and loving from the children and the staff, I knew each day that I went that I was doing what I love and that the children were enjoying the time that I spent with them. I learned that when you are working with the children that you have to look at them as if they are your own children. You have to make a bond and make sure that you say what you mean and mean what you say and set boundaries that cannot be crossed. …show more content…

As I continued to volunteer there, I learned that it is very hard for me to discipline the children when they do not behave but I learned that I have to discipline them and that when disciplining them I have to let them know what they have done is wrong and come up with a plan for them to avoid behaving that way in the future. I only had a few incidents when one of the children did not behave well and I handled the situations very well. Overall, volunteering at the Children’s Center really was a wonderful filling, I was happy because I was doing something that I loved and the reward I received was seeing the smiles on children’s
