Reasons behind obesity in the United States of America
United States of America is one of the most leading obese countries in the world, and the reasons are fairly understandable. We can observe that on our own. We have fast food chains on every block, where the foods are very cheap and unhealthy. Besides, we have more and more technology to make our lives easier. Hence people are getting lazier. All these factors involve weight gain in our country. People are getting fat and fatter day-by-day causing them more illness. Today, an estimated one in three Americans are obese (Parker-Pope). If the obesity rates keeps on going high some day we might face more difficulties such as decrease of healthy lifestyles , increase in cardiovascular diseases and perhaps birth of new diseases.
Obesity is a social issue in the United States that has been increasing in these recent years. It has become a serious issue since it has and is ruining many lives. If the numbers keep going up, “more people will get sick and die from the complications of obesity, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer” (Grady). Hence the causes should be examined and steps should be taken to eradicate this problem.
One cause of the problem is the environmental forces. Economic welfares of the food and beverage industries and the way our cities and towns are built, have combined to destabilize the body’s natural ability to match calories in with calories out (Brody). Industries have progressed so much that most of our foods are ready made. Also as said by Steven L. Gortmaker, a sociologist at the Harvard School of Public Health “Women were spending a lot less time on food preparation, but the industry figured out ways to make food more readily available for ...

Obesity is a social problem in the United States because it has caused people to suffer. People who are obese or are in a way to obesity are distress from diseases like diabetes. The causes behind it is the increasing amount of technologies, advertisements, and overall the developing cities. United States is a developing country with access amount of technologies that has made the work force lazy and as a result fat.

Obesity is on the rise, and it is becoming more and more of a national health concern. It effects more than 1/3 of the population, and an additional 1/3 is overweight. With obesity becoming more and more of a problem each year, the American population is going to suffer from a catastrophic health emergency.
Obesity has been a growing problem in America. With the leading cause of it is in our diet and the kind of foods we part take of everyday and they lifestyles that we all choose to live. The everyday habits and practices, that have been imbedded our every day routines. The American routine has become so lazy and self reliant on getting what we want and need at an instant that it has caused us to be over weight. We have all become so used to getting instant gratification, that it has been imbedded in our head that, why work for to get our food when we can go to a restaurant of our choosing and just pick out food. Especially with such a fast growing society that we live in everything moves so fast, We are all expected to keep up with

Studies have linked obesity to many things from ear infections, to pollution, to air-conditioning, to socializing with obese people. The reason Americans are obese is because of the increasing luxury available to them. Obesity is a rising problem in the United States, and with all the privileges given to its citizens, the country has become increasingly lazy. With portion sizes rising and physical activity decreasing, it is easy to see how obesity rates have skyrocketed.

About 2.8 billion adults every year die of obesity (Diet). Rachel Epstein wrote the book “Eating Habits and Disorders” which talks about obesity being a disease. Obesity is a condition with extra body fat which often starts to form in childhood (Epstein 25). While obesity for some adults can be life-threatening (Epstein 25). It can also form psychosocial problems (Epstein 25). Being obese causes a risk in diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney trouble and more (Epstein 25). Being obese during pregnancy can cause many problems for the mom, and for the baby (Epstein 25). Any of these things could cause many problems either in the future, or in the present (Epstein 25). The worse the eating habits, the harder it is to cure (Epstein 25). The government needs to do more about obesity because obesity rates are rising, many kids are being victims of obesity and they don’t even know it, also Medical Care is taking a big part with the growing obesity rates.

There is no doubt that obesity has taken its seat as one of the top disease that strikes the world today. In America, obesity has now spread through the country leaving 2 out of 3 adults either overweight or obese, and worldwide 1.5 billion are overweight or obese (Overweight). The cause of this disease stems from multiple reasons such as the increase in modern food production, putting out ample amounts of food causing the prices for meat, groceries, and especially junk food to plummet. Subsequently, Americans especially were more inclined to purchase more food and showed an increase in the average American house hold food intake by 1,000 more calories a day (Dreifus).
Today, 78.1 million American adults and 12.5 million children are obese. Obesity in America is a unstoppable epidemic. Since the 1960s, the number of obese adults have doubled and the number of obese children have tripled. Because of America’s obesity problems, Surgeon General David Satcher issued a report saying; "The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight," said that obesity "have reached epidemic proportions" in America. Obesity in America has no doubt reached epidemic proportions. Since 2001, America has been the most obese country in the world. This essay discusses what obesity is and how it is affecting today’s America by answers the following questions:
The government plays an important part in our safety, but many people think they take it too far. Recently, people have thought more and more about how much involvement the government should have when it comes to food regulations. Some people think the government's involvement in regulating food would greatly help obesity rates, and others think the country's obesity rates would show little to no improvement. Although no one cause of obesity exists, and no government regulations will likely alter someone’s lifestyle choices, the government should implement some regulations by implementing programs to educate and encourage citizens to lead a healthier life and by requiring companies to list a full disclosure of ingredients on their products.
There is a book called Understanding Obesity that says that the reason we need to be concerned is that excess weight is the cause of more illness than virtually any other medical condition. So this means that Obesity is a massive problem that affects the health of people. According to a web page Obesity causes 30,000 deaths a year, this is a big number for death and is literary caused because of the food. Obesity is a huge problem in the United States, Americans are grossly overweight, not only adults but also children. There are many causes for this, for example genetics, lack of exercise and food calories; obesity negatively affects our body in many ways causing health problems, people can reduce obesity by weight-loss surgery.
