Reasons and Results of the Civil War
The Civil War was a very critical event in American History. It started by many disagreements between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong voice preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended there were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world.
The South was known as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. The seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act. Situations arrived which dug deeper and deeper and secession was inevitable. Northerners wanted profound economic, social, and political change and the South was thriving for an independent nation. Their views on life counteracted those views from the North. The South had a number of reasons which uncut their ties to the North, but the main reason being the Nor...
The Northern states believed that we should remain as one under the union, while the southern states wanted to secede from the union. In document E John C. Calhoun claims that the states have the right to secede from the Union. The southern states believed that since they voluntarily joined the United States, they should be able to voluntarily leave. But at President Lincoln's “First Inaugural Address”, he claims that secession is illegal and unconstitutional, and that the union was perpetual (Document F). Lincoln also claimed that the constitution binds the states together and that the country cannot legally be broken up.
The Civil War took place from 1861-1865. And this war was caused over the dispute of slaves. The U.S was continuing to add states and the south wanted the states to become slave states, but the North wanted the states to be free states. This is when we realized we had many problems with our country and we needed to fix them. And the end of the war came with a great outcome. The ending of this war ended slavery for the whole U.S. Meaning that all African Americans in the U.S. were free. And they no longer had to be under slavery. This war was the one to end the 245 years of slavery we had in the U.S. And that changed our country
The Civil War was a hard fought battle between the North and the South. The Civil War was caused by four main things: sectionalism, lifestyle differences, secession, and slavery (Wise). Slavery was the ultimate cause of the Civil War. The different leaders from the North and South had a large impact on what happened during the Civil War and how the battles were fought. The battles of the Civil War brought turning points and tragic moments in American History. In the end the North won and took control of the country and tried to bring it back together as quickly as possible. The Reconstruction Era after the war lasted for 12 years as the Presidents tried to reunite the split country (Reconstruction). The Civil War was a long hard fought war that ultimately changed the U.S. forever.
The Civil War was an important war over the freedom of slaves in the U.S.. The Civil War is well known for being caused by the issue of slavery, but it is really a combination of different events and actions that caused tensions to rise throughout the country. The economic and political issues in the U.S., along with certain actions caused the Civil war, which is one of the United States’s worst wars. All in all, the Civil War was one of the most devastating wars for our country as a whole, and the process of rebuilding would take years and is no easy job.
Between the economic, political, and social quarrels that evolved throughout the 1850's, the North and the South underwent many changes that led to the start of the Civil War. The most attributing factor to this war was that of a moral dispute between two sections who both wanted different things. Slavery became the issue that spread across the nation and was disputed back and forth between the North and South sections of the country.
Following the American Civil War, the whole nation was forever changed and was the result of many good and bad things. Although it was a very costly war and was So, the Civil War did define us and made us the good and the bad things we are and led to an extremely significant change because slavery was abolished once and for all and African American rights followed many years later, the Federal Government imposed more power over the states, our country was divided for a while, and it left the nation in debt due to the fact that we fought each other.
...om’s Cabin in 1852, the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, the Dred Scott Decision of 1857, John Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry in 1859, and the outcome of the Presidential Election of 1860—created conditions where Southerners felt the need to secede from the United States (they felt that their “way of life” was being threatened), as well as created conditions where the Northerners decided to go to war against the Southern Confederacy in order to maintain the Union. It is not surprising, however, that the Civil War occurred; since the Industrial Revolution, the Industrial North had always been different than the Agricultural South. If each region paid more attention to resolving the issues that separated them, instead of trying to prove themselves right, they could have stopped the bloodiest battle in American history (even though this is using hindsight knowledge).
Slavery denied people basic human rights. For example when a child born into slavery is sold his or her parents will have no authority over him or her(doc 1). Frederick Douglas stated the law will give the master definite power over the slave. The master can work him. The slave owner may flog him or hire him out. In law the slave can not marry cannot have citizenship or home. The slave may own nothing. But must belong to another (doc 2). From a slave’s point of view They were not treated like normal people (doc 3). For example they had no civil rights. To quickly sum it up The slaves were normal people treated wrongly because of her skin color.
The Civil War was an event in history that was caused a division in our country and made people see each other differently. This division was created by slavery and Americans’ opinion on slavery. The two opposing sides of the Civil War were the Northern states and the Southern states of the United States. The majority of the North believed that slavery was wrong and fought for its abolishment. On the other hand, the majority of the South treated and thought of slaves as property. They needed slaves to pick cotton, a crop that was vital to the Southern economy. The problem of slavery was at the center of the Civil War, and many people fought passionately because of what they believed. Essentially, the Civil War was a heated argument about freedom
Although the American Civil War mainly occurred because of slavery, the fact is that slavery had a lot to do with economic and social issues.
"The tragic ‘fireball in the night’ imagined by Jefferson had finally rung. The Missouri Compromise had failed. Proslavery and antislavery civilians clashed in the streets and took up arms. Thousands of Northerners were willing to die for their beliefs.
The Civil War was the fundamental event in America's historical realization. The war fixed two necessary questions which left it unclear by the revolution. The war all started because of rigid differences between the freemen and the slave states over the power of the national government to ban slavery in the regions that had not became states yet. The American Civil War was the biggest and by far the most vicious battle in the Western world between the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and the beginning of World War I in 1914. Northern victory was the war that preserved the United States as one nation and broken the foundation of slavery that had separated the country from its beginning (James McPherson, 2013).
