Do you know what it takes to reach your full potential? Reaching your full potential means to me is to work hard, be a leader, and to be a better person. This is the action I have learned many values that I have experienced through high school football. These values I use today and use in everything that I do. When it was my 11th grade year for football our school was not known for winning football games. The last eight years before we had not made the playoffs, or had a winning season. My old head football coach had retired and we eventually got a new head coach. The next head coach for my high school at Northgate was T.J. Wiley. The very first day he introduced himself to us he wrote four letters on the chalk board R.Y.F.P. We were all confused on what it was. So he asked us “what you think these letters mean?” we all guessed random things and then he told us. “Reaching your full potential”, then he asked us again. “What do you think reaching your potential is?” Most of us said doing something your good at. He said it’s when you are doing everything to your ability to be successful in every way possible. Basically giving your one hundred percent in everything you do. He said it was being in front of the classroom, doing good things in your community, and to do the small things right. From this point forward I was living the life of R.Y.F.P. This is when I learned the way to really work hard and to have that drive to be better. That season we went to make the playoffs for the first time in eight years, but had lost in the first round. Although we lost we all knew next year would be one hundred percent better. It was all because of our coach he brought a new belief that we could believe in ourselves. This followed into my seni... ... middle of paper ... ...r person that you already are, and that there is always room to improve on any aspect of your life. It has also made me a better person at my job. I work at Dick’s Sporting Goods. I got hired in August and they saw how hard I work and the effort I put into everything they promoted me. I am a manager now and I also got a raise. I feel I have come a long way as a person and that is something I am very proud of. The value that I have experienced through “reaching your full potential” has made me hard working, to be a leader, and to be a better person. This is the action I have learned many values that I have experienced through high school football. These values I use today and use in everything that I do. I’ll continue in my life living the same way until I die because I feel it is the best way to be successful. What does reaching your full potential mean to you?
