Raves
What is a rave? A rave usually refers to an all night party, open to the general public, where loud “techno” music is mostly played and many people can partake in a number of different chemicals (Official). Raves are fairly decent and you don’t hear much about them on the streets. Yet some people who go to the raves try to sell their drugs to ravers and that’s what makes the word rave so bad. Because of those people Mayor Daley has planned crack down on jailing building owners and managers who let their properties be used for raves where drugs are peddled. They approved of this Thursday, April 19, 2001. The range for jail term runs from two weeks to six months (Rave). But why are raves getting the reputation they are? Raves are getting bad reputations because of the drug peddlers that go to the raves to sell their ecstasy and stamina enhancing drugs. According to a website called Dancesafe.com ecstasy is a safe drug if you stay away from the listed kinds of ecstasy.
The parents of the kids going to these raves are not saying a word about the drug situation there. They still let their kids go because they know it is safer than being out on the street or at some drinking party getting drunk and then having the risk of them driving home. If you ask me raves aren’t so bad, I’ve been to several of them and out of all of the ones I have gone I have only seen two peddlers selling X. They were all-night raves and tons of people and everyone was all wired and dancing and moving around like mad. “It’s a love circle, It’s like a 1960’s scene – all the races together, dancing, having a communal experience.” says Laze (Gracia). At raves there are different rooms. One room is the main room where the dancing goes on and all the music is spun and where most of the people are. Some of the music that is played there is House, Techno (most common), breakbeat, Trance, Tribal, and Progressive. The visual effects and a lot at the raves. Most of them use laser shows, others use laser that goes with the beat, and of course the classic strobe light. Then there is another room called the “cool down room” where you can buy water and energy drinks and sit down and talk to all the other ravers there and meet different girls and stuff.
King Tut the12th king of the 18th egyptian dynasty, he had the power from 1361 b.c.e to 1352 b.c.e. During his reign powerful advisers restored the traditional egyptian religion which had been set to the side by his foreigner Akhenaten who had led the “Amama Revolution.” After his death at age 18 he went missing from history until the discovery of his tomb in 1922. King tut was a weak child who ached from a cleft palate and club foot.He began ruling at the age of 9 due to the death of his father at the age of 5.
King Tut or Tutankhamun (reigned 1343-1325 BC), Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, the son-in-law of Akhenaton, whom he succeeded. He became Pharaoh about the age of 9 and ruled until his death; which was about the age of 18. Peace was brought to Egypt during his reign as the worship of Amon, abandoned under Akhenaton, was restored and Thebes, the city sacred to Amon, was again made Egypt's capitol.
On November 29, 1947, the United Nations voted for a partition resolution that led to the establishment of the nation of Israel in May, 1948. This was great news for Jews in Palestine and the diaspora as it meant the fulfillment of the quest for the rebirth of their nation in their previous homeland after many years of wandering (Pappe, 2006, p. 12). However, their Palestinian Arab counterparts opposed to the establishment from the start felt cheated by the international community and remained categorical that the final answer to the Jewish problem would only be solved in blood and fire (Karsh, 2002, p. 8).
King tut was eight or nine when he took over as king. When he took the crown he was married to his queen. In Egypt it was normal for kings to marry their sister or half sister. With King Tut he married his half sister. It is believed that when King Tut was crowned king he was heavily influenced by his great uncle Ay. When a new king comes in to rule they have to go through coronation, meaning to be presented with multiple crowns. The most important ones were red, white, double crown, blue crown and the nemes headdress. The king had to visors, the highest officials in the government, who were in charge of the upper and lower parts of Egypt. (Hawass 29-56)
Criminal activities and gangs have mostly always been an on going problem in the United States. Gangs and gang members are frequently involved with a variety of different crimes. The 2008 National Youth Gang Survey reported that there are approximately 774,000 active gang members in the United States (Egley, Howell, & Moore, 2010). The 2008 National Youth Gang Survey also states that there are about 27,900 active gangs in the United States (Egley et al., 2010). The active gangs in California have caused a major impact on the state in many ways. According to the California Department of Justice, approximately 300,000 gang members are living in California (Crawford, 2009). California also attributes more than 25 percent of all homicides to gang activity (Crawford, 2009). This is a staggering huge amount. The rise of gang involvement and gang crime has led law enforcement to issue and enforce gang injunctions. However, these gang injunctions do not completely eliminate gang crime and they have no effect after one year of being issued. Also, gang injunctions interfere with the lives of normal people in society.
As a young person, seeing the media portray the the youth “party culture” and experiencing this culture is quite different. Media portrayal of drugs is often glamorous, and though teens are educated on the dangers of drug use, they are still impressionable and as a result susceptible to mimicking such behaviors. The opportunity to see these cultures first hand in two different countries is very fascinating. At sixteen years old, I spent a summer abroad in Europe, and saw firsthand youth immersed in these situations. While at a convenience store in the college town that is Hatfield, England, I witnessed a girl who was nowhere near legal alcohol purchasing age (even for Europe) being sold alcohol without any identification.
While drugs are seen as a divisive issue today, in the 1960s they were much more accepted and widely available. It is during this time period that drugs that are highly illegal now were available and used daily in many cultures around the world. Many of these drugs, such as cocaine, were seen as a “cure-all” and supposedly helped with a variety of ailments. These are the reasons I find drug culture in the 1960s particularly interesting. I also think it is interesting how drugs such as acid and marijuana, while not technically illegal at the beginning of this time period, were still considered taboo and people who did these drugs were looked down upon. This disapproving opinion could also be due to the fact that it was often hippies doing these drugs and hippies were often looked down upon by mainstream society in general. One question I still have regarding the drug culture of this time is how
In analogue recording, the noise floor and distortion often accumulated at the recording and post-production stages, while a digital recordings signal was cleanly represented through binary values. In 1967, the first digital tape recorder was seen in Japan and was involved in the first digitally mastered records in 1972. The Sony PCM-1 was the first commercially available digital recording device. It converted captured analogue signal into a digital binary format. Initially digital records were still released on vinyl in analogue but in 1982 Sony and Philips released the first compact discs. Friction and noise from physical contact was now eliminated allowing a much clearer sonic representation. In 1987, digital audio tapes were introduced however record companies opposed a medium that allowed flawless copies of compact discs to be made so digital audio tapes were never released in America, however were quite popular for professional recordings. In 1995 the ...
Modern technology has taken amazing strides in the past few years. We have changed the way we deal with food production, agriculture, and many other aspects of life.. Scientists have begun utilizing these advances in technology and knowledge to gain insight as to how the human species functions. They are on the verge of manipulating the way humans relate to the natural world. This revolutionary breakthrough is what is known as Genetic Engineering. Genetic Engineering is the process of manually adding new DNA molecules into an already existing organism. A simplified version of the process works by physically removing a gene from one organism and placing it into another. This is being done in an effort to

Tutankhamen was Akhenaten’s son. Tut was left with an empire that was staring disaster right in the face, because of what his father did. Tut’s rule is notable for reversing what his father did. Until 1922, Tut was hardly known by the modern world. In 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Tut’s tomb. This discovery was one the the most fabulous treasures ever, taking more than 10 years to clean out. Tutankhamen is unique because of his early death at the age of only 19. Tut was tall and physically frail with a bone disease that was crippling. Another reasoning for his early death may be because of traditional inbreeding in the Egyptian royal family. Tut’s parents were brother and sister and his wife ws his half sister. When Tut passed everything from Akhenaten was destroyed and Amarna diminished in the dust as if it never was the thriving city that it was. Not only was Akhenaten destroyed but the royal family and everything from
As we ease into the twenty-first century, we realize that genetic engineering is undoubtedly going to have a dramatic effect on our lives. It seems that "with genetic engineering, science has moved from exploring the natural world and its mechanisms to redesigning it." Now, we must ask ourselves this, will that influence be for better, or for worse?
The deficiency of family education, the seduction of social evildoers, and the wide-spread internet information all lead to teenagers’ easy access to drugs but they are not immune to these negative external conditions (Brooke, 2016). Teenagers addicted to drugs have obvious group characteristics, and they would gather a crowd to take drugs such as cannabis, methamphetamine and even heroin in recreational places such as bars, nightclubs or hotels. The first attempt to drugs are often stirred up by friends, and the atmosphere of taking drugs in a group will increase individual’s group psychology as other members of the group, especially the demonstration of the familiar friends will dispel concerns of first drug attempt of individuals. Teenagers are liable to lose judgment and responsibility under the peer pressure coming from group atmosphere, language stimulation and provocation. As it is difficult to realize the goal of purifying the external environment in a short time, it is applicable to prolong the age of cannabis legalization to 18.
A conflict between Palestine and Israel began when a promise was made by Britain in 1917 to make Palestine Israel’s homeland, and their belief that the land was meant for them since biblical times. Despite their beliefs and Britain’s promise, it still does not give them the right to drive Palestinians out of their homes. They should negotiate and come up with a peaceful agreement instead of causing conflict and violence. The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians still exists today, they have yet to find a way to resolve their conflict and live together in peace once again.
Keating goes above and beyond at developing the minds of his students, including helping Todd find the poet within himself, and supporting Neil when Neil’s father didn’t want Neil to act. Overall, Mr. Keating and his actions pushed the ideas of creativity and self-thought throughout the film.
