Rape is forcing another a male or female to have an unwanted sexual intercourse. It is probably one of the worst thing someone can face. Rape can happen to anyone at any time. Its is a very serious crime and happens in all of todays society. The statistics of rape are very high even without the unreported cases. Unreported rape cases are high as well. Rape is one of the oldest crimes in history, this crime continues to happen today, and stricter laws have been set in place to help alleviate the problem.
Rape has been happening for thousands of years and behind this there is a history. In 1973, a seventeen year old girl was raped. Her rapist was found innocent because she had agreed to go for a walk with him and he seemed to be a respectful man. there were many crimes like this in history, along with these crimes, rape also had a huge impact in history during the war. War has linked to a lot of rape for hundreds of years. Rape in war happens a lot because of the lack of sexual satisfaction. During World War II, Soviet women were raped by German soldiers and German women were raped by Soviet soldiers. During the war in 1971 Pakistan soldiers raped between 200,000 and 400,000 Bengal women. During the Vietnam and Yugoslavia war rape was a major thing. Estimating the amount of rape during war was really difficult because women don't report the rapes. They don't report the rapes because of trauma and fear within the family. The soldiers doing this made them feel powerful and was proof to show that they were manly. The punishment of rape during the war was the same punishment as if it happened at any other time. If a woman were to get pregnant they would suffer harsh consequences. The wives are left by their husband, some commit suicide...

...We can help raise awareness. If you see something suspicious happening speak up. We can all as a society raise political will. One person can be the change.
Rape is not a joke and nobody should have to face rape. There are many rape crime that are not reported. When a rape crime is not reported, it is unlikely to lead to an arrest or prosecution. In every 100 rapes,40 get reported to the police, 10 lead to an arrest, 8 get prosecuted, 4 lead to a felony conviction, 3 rapist will spend time in jail and the other 97 will walk free. Stopping the silence, and speaking up is the step everyone should start off by. Help spread the word, and the world will change.
