Despoil in the military occurs more often than many civilians believe. It is very important to address situations that are entirely intolerable. Rape in the civilian society is seen with disgust and dishonor. When women or men are raped many, don’t report it since they are ashamed that they have endured such an atrocity. Rape is not just an action against an individual, but a violent crime that can scar a life permanently. Rape transpires in all parts of the world, including the United States. When rape victims report the incident, they experience difficulties in the criminal justice system. Many who are raped are blamed for the event, they are often declared, “You were dressed like that, what did you expect?”. The assault the victim …show more content…

“More than
70 members of the US Military encounter coerced and abusive sexual contact, aggravated sexual assault or are raped every day. That 's three every hour” (Chemaly). These statistics are horrible, is this acceptable in any society or department? Men are also targets of assault and rape in the United States Military, by far it is evident that woman are assaulted and raped more than men, since men are often less victims and more the attackers of this and most women by physical strength are weaker than men.
The ironic thing is that there are more rape reports made with servicemen than of servicewomen in the military. “In 2012 thirteen thousand nine hundred men reported rape, attempted rape or unwanted sexual touching, and twelve thousand one hundred woman reported the same incidents in 2012 a total of twenty six thousand for both men and military woman”
(Childress).
Regarding the data shown, if we divide the United States Military into their branches, the
Marines had the most rates in assaults concerning servicewomen, which were seven point nine percent that were assaulted. The Navy had the upmost highest in servicemen assaults, which …show more content…
