Music is something almost everyone listens to for various reasons, like for happiness, relaxation, grievance, or even for focusing. With all the various genres out there that suits the needs of what people like to hear rather it’s a beautiful saxophone of jazz or the singing of opera. Music is everywhere such as on the radio, tv, and even on our phones. Music can change your mood really fast when you’re feeling down and listen to a nice up beat song. Music affects us all in different ways, from the way we walk, talk, and how we dress. Through my years of growing up I would mostly listen to whatever my parents would listen to. My Mom listened to R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz, while Dad would also listen to Hip-Hop, R&B, but he also listened to Rock, and Alternative. I ended up liking them all but the one that really stuck out to me was Hip-Hop.
All influenced by Keith Cowboy/ Rapper Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five, in the 1970’s Hip Hop music began. This style of music became popular mostly around the late 80’s Early 90’s. Hip hop music in the 90’s was made up of 4 key things; Rapping, scratching, beatboxing & synthesis. There were many different styles of rap including Gangsta Rap, Political Rap, Alternative Rap and Crunk Music. Some people who showed examples of this type of rap were 2Pac Shakur, Dr.Dre and Notorious B.I.G and D4L.
Rock n’ Roll is and was the genre that was the most influential in new creations. With artists like The Beatles and Elvis Presley, that helped making the decades between 1940 and 1980 the most popular years in music of all the time.
Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.

It is something that people of all ages, religions, genders, and ethnicity can understand and enjoy. This is what truly makes music a powerful force in our world.

When Rock arrived on the music charts in the 1950's, a merging of African-American and White music, it made a huge impact on society. As a general rule I am not heavily into music, but I was drawn to Rock for some inexplicable reason. It is just the music I like. This genre will be difficult to write about because the origin of Rock is unclear; there are traces of Rock's style back into the 19th Century. It is also a very broad subject and I will have to compress a lot of information into as few pages as possible. Be that as it may, Rock is, in my opinion the best music genre on the charts.
