The Ransom of Abby Abby wakes up to the sound of her mother’s voice “Time for breakfast sweetie”. Abby gets up out of bed with a loud yawn “Coming mom”. Abby walks down the stairs to the kitchen seeing her mom making her plate. “Good morning Abby”. Abby sits down in at the dining room table “good morning mom”, “how are you” said Abby’s mom, “I am okay”. “Sweetie what is wrong”, “Nothing”. There is something wrong with me but I know my mom would freak out if I told her I was getting bullied by some mean girls at school. “Okay sweetie just making sure, well you should finish up your breakfast and get ready for school”, “Okay mom” abby said with a sigh. She realizes that she is on the floor, Abby thinks to herself i probably just fell of my bed so she gets up to try to find a light switch. While she is trying to find a light switch she hears voices again, she thinks to herself it isn’t my moms voice. Then she hears a door open the light from the open door come into the black room. There she sees standing a girl with long straight blonde hair, dark green eyes, tan soft looking skin, and not a very tall person about five four then it clicks it is April. April and the three snobbish friends she has. Abby looks at them in confusion “Where am I why are you here”, April and her three friends all look at each other and start laughing April returns her stare at me saying “Really what do you mean why am I hear you should know” Abby looks at them still in confusion. “Are you stupid it is because i saw you making googly eyes at my boyfriend, I know you like him”. “So what if I do like him” Abby said with a sassy voice. April looked at me and gave me a very mean look like she wanted to just yell at me for hours. April still staring at me in a mean way says to me “we are going to make a ransom note and give it to your mom”. ”Someone will come looking for me I know they will so good luck with that ransom note”, Abby said in very brave voice. “Since when are you so brave Abby” April said in a sassy voice. “I have always been brave you just never knew”. April and her friends looked at each other and started laughing. I looked at them and said “So what is the ransom letter going to say”, April and her friends stopped laughing and returned their stares towards me again. April started to speak “It is going to say I will give you back your daughter if she promises to stop flirting and looking at my boyfriend”. April and her friends looked at each other and nodded.
“Nick-” she reluctantly drew words. “-Did I ever tell you of the letter Myrtle sent Tom, back in Christmas, about three years ago?” I already knew I didn’t want to have this conversation. I wanted to sit and hold my breath like a toddler until I got my way and she withheld this talk with me.
After April and Roger search desperately for Cheryl, they look for several weeks, and have no idea where she has gone. One night Cheryl’s friend Nancy calls April, and explains that she was leaving with her, but she had left suddenly and believes she is going to do something bad. April remembers that Cheryl told her how their mother committed suicide, by jumping off the Louis Bridge. When they arrive at the bridge a group of people say they saw a women jumped off and commit suicide about five minutes before they arrived.
“Pardon me?” Miss Allen asked, finally putting an end to the creepy ass moment of deadly silence. The perplexed expression on her face grew more confound with each passing second, but the gentleness in her eyes remained the same.
Alice looks down and said, “Oh yeah. If that’s what makes YOU happy,” and muttered under her breath, “You don’t even know…”

Thinking they would go inside the rooms, they just stood outside talking because the school installed steel mesh on all the windows when the staff found out that the kids would crawl out to either visit boyfriends or go to the seven-to-eleven store. The mom finally gave in and pulled up a chair. The children got quiet fast and huddled together under the covers in anticipation. The mom took a deep breath knowing that the kids would have a hard time processing the story that was about to be told.
