Getting to the ranch is about a one-hour journey from San Diego’s International Airport (the nearest airport.) The drive takes you through the rolling hills of Southern California and Northern Mexico. And once you arrive, the rest of the world seems to slip away. Most visitors visit for at least one week and rarely, if ever, leave the property during that time.
Days at Ranch La Puerta are spent engaging in hikes, cooking classes, spa treatments and the hourly fitness classes that begin early in the morning and last until evening. After dinner there’s often lectures from well-known intellectual leaders or luminaries, music or other engaging options. With so much to do, a week seems not nearly enough time.
Accommodations
The accommodations at Rancho La Puerta are made up of 86 charming, colorful garden casitas, that range in size and price. They are all nestled in the rolling hills and along the picturesque paths that weave throughout Rancho La Puerta’s property. Many have lovely patios that beg you to spend some time sitting and reading, or just enjoying the sounds of the woods and

Described as a place to renew your mind, body and spirit, the spa here is about far more than just fluffy facials and pedicures. Rancho La Puerta is constantly on the cutting edge of all that’s new and advantageous when it comes to well-being and spa therapies. Just recently the spa announced a variety of new energy healing treatments including Reiki, Reconnective Healing, Somatic Experiencing and Lifeline Technique (definitely not your typical spa fare.)
Some of the existing favorites here meanwhile, include hot stone massages, detox massages, four hand massages, herbal wraps and seaweed wraps. So many fabulous options, so little time right?
Often, the recommended approach for a weeklong stay is to start with cleansing treatments, fill mid-week with treatments that relax and restore, and then conclude your getaway with treatments designed to energize. Thus, you head back to the real world fully refreshed and renewed.
Fitness
Just as Rancho La Puerta has always been a leader in spa therapies, it has also become a place where fitness takes on all forms. Your first glance at the week’s fitness schedule can often been slightly overwhelming, not only because there are so many offerings, but also because many will probably be entirely new to you. It’s a chance to try things you’ve never done

It depicts a very interesting story about the California heritage. The place still looks as an old Mexican “pueblo”. Many old houses were turned in cafes and restaurants where people can go and enjoy the beautiful environment. Many of the cafes are inside of the house with a very unique way to spend the afternoon. The pueblo has a lot of stores were the story of the mission and the legend of the swallows are sold. There are many old people living there, and usually they are the owners of the souvenir stores. Raquel Curtin owner of a souvenir store states that the story of the Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of her favorites. “It’s a very interesting story that everyone that lives in California should know,” Curtin says. She has been attending her store for more than 10 years. Curtin believes that the story of the Mission will never be forgotten. According to Curtin “the Mission is what we are now, and we should never forget
The mission of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a non-profit organization/museum founded to celebrate and cultivate an appreciation for the enduring and evolving influence of Mexican and Mexican-American culture, with a specific focus upon the unique Mexican-American experience in Los Angeles and Southern California. The museum itself is near where Los Angeles was founded in 1871 and includes a 2.2 anchor campus that includes two historic and renovated buildings (Vickrey Brunswig Building and Plaza House). All surrounded by beautiful public gardens. La Plaza is also located near the heart of Los Angeles surrounded by other ethnic sites like Little Tokyo. (However after visiting one can 't help to realize the homeless problem in the Los Angeles area, and realizing some are even Chicano.)
Through the study of the Peruvian society using articles like “The “Problem of the Indian...” and the Problem of the Land” by Jose Carlos Mariátegui and the Peruvian film La Boca del Lobo directed by Francisco Lombardi, it is learned that the identity of Peru is expressed through the Spanish descendants that live in cities or urban areas of Peru. In his essay, Mariátegui expresses that the creation of modern Peru was due to the tenure system in Peru and its Indigenous population. With the analyzation of La Boca del Lobo we will describe the native identity in Peru due to the Spanish treatment of Indians, power in the tenure system of Peru, the Indian Problem expressed by Mariátegui, and the implementation of Benedict Andersons “Imagined Communities”.

Easy going Guadalajara, Mexico's second city is the area's best-known destination, packed with elegant buildings and surrounded by scenic country. To understand how the Ponce de Leon Hotel shows the values of the leisure class, one must understand how the leisure class came to be as according to Veblen. Veblen states in his book that ‘In the sequence of cultural evolution the emergence of a leisure class coincides with the beginning of ownership.’ (Veblen 15) He then goes on to discuss how early distinctions of the working class and the leisure class ‘is a division maintained between men’s and women’s work in the lower stage of barbarism’ and how even ‘the earliest form of ownership is the ownership of women’. So essentially the leisure class is the leisure class thank...
The life on the Ranchos was perhaps the most interesting out of all, because of how one family took care of Sonoma area, Mariano Vallejo, which husbanded twenty-five thousand cows, twenty-four thousand sheep and two thousand horses. It is unbelievable to a present day Californian like me. There was one sentence that actually surprised me. I thought that boys were more impo...

What is culture? Many people ask themselves this question every day. The more you think about it the more confusing it is. Sometimes you start leaning to a culture and then people tell you you’re wrong or they make you feel like a different person because of your culture. I go through this almost every day. Because of the way I was raised I love Mexican rodeo but I was born and raised in Joliet. This can be very difficult trying to understand culture. I live in this huge mix of culture. Culture is personal. People can have many cultures especially in America and because of globalization. Cultural identity is not one or the other, it is not Mexican or American. Cultural identity is an individual relevant thing.
