In the book The Lord of the Flies, a group of boys end up crash landing on a island. They are all alone and there are no adults. They have no food, no shelter, no clean water, and they only have the clothes they are wearing. Two of the boys, Ralph and Piggy end up finding a conch shell. Piggy tells Ralph to blow it and see if it makes a sound. When Ralph blows the conch the rest of the boys end up coming out of the forest. They have a meeting and they decide to vote for a leader. They end up voting Ralph leader, and one of the other boys, Jack was not very happy about it. Eventually Jack starts to become power hungry, and it totally changes him. Jack ends up going after Ralph and tries to kill him, so he can be leader. Over time the boys notice …show more content…

When the boys are on the island they start to change after so much time, they start acting different. They turn on each other and eventually start killing or trying to kill each other. When they get rescued the naval officer just assumed they were playing a game, because Ralph was running away from Jack and the other boys. Simon is a perfect example of this, he is totally fine in the beginning, but then he starts to go crazy. The Lord of the Flies starts talking to him and tells him that they are the evil that they have been facing on the island. They are the beast they have been fearing, the island has changed them. The things that the boys had to face while on the island brought out the capability to be evil. On page 84 in Lord of the Flies, Piggy says “What are we? Humans? Or animals? Or savages?” Jack and the choir boys are obsessed with hunting, and when they put on the paint or mask they change. They start acting like animals or savages, they become obsessed with the idea of killing something. Another quote would be on page 106, the boys were trying to kill a big. “Ralph to was fighting to get near, to get a handful of that brown, vulnerable flesh. The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering. Another character who changed in the book is Roger, he was creepy in the beginning, but he takes it too far. He started out following one of the younger boys, and started throwing rocks near him. Then, he ends up releasing the boulder that killed Piggy.
