Growing up, you always hear children saying they want to be a police officer, but war they don 't know is the struggle they have to go through everyday because of their methods with racial profiling. Police officers are forced to judge people based on their race everyday that they go to work. This has brought up a nationwide argument over whether police should or should not be able to use racial profiling to catch their suspects. Seeming to be a very sensitive subject, people seem to be more leaning to the side of wanting racial profiling to come to an end. What these people fail to realize is it is helping our nation in more ways than one. In this case, as heard many times before, through racial profiling. “In the wake of 9/11, opponents of profiling have shifted away from arguing against it because it is "racist" and now claim that it endangers security because it is a drain on resources and damages relations with ethnic and religious minorities, thereby hampering intelligence-gathering. These assertions are cleverly fine-tuned to appeal to post-9/11 sensibilities, but they are unfounded and disingenuous. The fact that al-Qaeda is using some non-Arab recruits does not render profiling moot. As long as we have open borders, Osama bin Laden will continue to send Middle east terrorists here by land, sea and air. Profiling is just one discretionary investigative tool among many” (Malkin par 15). Since the attack on the twin towers, many have become more aware of what’s going on around them. Terrorist have become smarter, therefore we need to become even more smarter as well. Racial profiling is one of the easiest ways to find someone. Before and in many cases now, people are sensitive to the thought of singling people out because of race, but it has to be done. As long as we are the America that the world knows us to be, people will try to bring us down.
