“According to a 2009 FBI report, two-thirds of the criminals receiving life sentences were non-whites. In New York, it is 83%.” All around the United States many Americans have the feeling that they are inferior to other people. This way of thinking can have a real negative effect on other races. For example, many police departments utilize racial profiling to determine whether a person looks suspicious or not. Deciding whether a person is suspicious based on looks is entirely wrong. This is wrong because every person in the United States should be treated equally. In some cases, a person might have just worked late, or a group of friends were just hanging out late at night. People have to get along with each other and work well as a team. A workplace is a place where anyone can feel safe and be treated equally. Despite all the regulation on racial discrimination, it is still an ongoing battle. For instance, many coworkers are discriminating one another. This can result in bullying which could create a hostile environment for the other workers. Besides creating a hostile environment, it could also interfere with employees productivity level. Those crimes range from hate crimes to violent protests. For instance, the recent protests in Ferguson, Missouri, where an 18 year old African American male was kill because the 18 year old was murder because of his race, this cause a violent protests to burst out. This protest had the total damage of nearly $4.6 million. When any crime involving racism or a hint of it cause so much controversy and alters the judgment of many people no matter if they are right or wrong. Hate crimes also involves some kind of violence based on discrimination against human’s religion, race, and belief. Many statistics from a police report show that a majority of all the crime in America is motivated by some kind of hate towards a person’s race. For example, my uncle came from Mexico two years ago, for my grandma’s funeral. Because of the seriousness of the event, he came as fast as he could with only the clothes he had on him. With no spare clothes, my dad let him borrow some of his old clothes. My uncle was a skinny, and tall person and my dad was overall bigger than him. On the day my uncle received the clothes from my dad, he immediately used the clothes he was given. The fit was baggy but he was thankful for the clothes.
