Lacroix discusses films like: Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas, and The Hunch Back of Notre Dame. She discusses the consumerism in the world surrounding these Disney films and also the different representations of race and femininity in the said films. LaCroix makes valid points in that “American society constructs itself as objective, rational, and civilized by it’s orientalization of minority women.” She brings up the fact that female characters like Belle and Ariel have nearly the same features as more oriental looking characters like Pocahontas and Jasmine.
