Long-Term Review of the REI Elements Jacket
I purchased this jacket in 2012 for a trip to Peru and have used it many times on the trail or days when I need to take the dogs out on a potty break on a rainy day. The REI Elements Rain Jacket, now known as the REI Ultra Light Jacket, is medium weight 2.5-layer waterproof breathable coated shell that weighs 16 ounces. The jacket works great as a rain jacket, wind jacket, or for warmth as an outer layer.

The conflict/rising action in “The Jacket” is he didnt like the jacket. It was an ugly green color and had mustard colored stripes on the sleeves. He just wanted to wear his older jacket and let his brother have the ugly new one. His mom kept begging him to take the jacket and wear it to school and always have it on. However, he did not agree with her opinion at all.
The Gift of Sweat” by Rebecca Brown, tells the story of a man with a mysterious disease. The story is told from what we presume is one of the man’s friends. We read about her routine with Rick, the man that is ill, and his happenings. This story is intriguing because it is very poignant and mysterious. This makes us wonder about this character's lives and why the outcome of the story is what it ended up to be.. What makes this story so pleasurable is the writing style. The way the author made us predict what Rick’s illness was, made the story that much more interesting. The way Brown played with context clues made the readers interested, it made the readers want more and figure out more about the characters, and the story itself.

One person should not be ungrateful for what they recieve. “I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and so big that I knew I’d have to wear it a long time.” This quote shows how the boy feels towards the jacket. He is hateful towards the jacket. Hateful is where someone strongly dislikes something/someone to the point of where they would want to destroy/hurt them. He doesn’t like the jacket because it isn’t the one he wanted.
