2. Drink at least 2 quarts of water every day. This will keep you hydrated and naturally encourage cell regeneration. Your liver will filter out more toxins and residue, work faster and increase your energy level.
3. Drink lemon juice in water or tea once a day. Lemon juice stimulates the liver's bile production to help push toxins out. It also prevents the build-up of gallstones and promotes digestion and liver function in the movement of gastric juices.

The Hepatitis A Virus affects many different systems within the body. The first being the digestive system and the gastrointestinal system because Hepatitis A causes an acute liver infection. The liver’s job is to process nutrients, filter the blood and toxin from your body, and fight infections. It produces important blood components, proteins, and bile which helps you digest food. The liver also stores glucose and vitamins. The Hepatitis A Virus causes inflammation that interrupts the liver’s ability to perform these vital functions. Having a healthy liver is crucial to your health because it supports many other body systems. For example, one function of the liver is to produce bile which is needed to break down fats. The body stores bile in the gallbladder and then sends it to the beginning section of the small intestine. Bile is then combined with other digestive
Liver disease resulting from alcohol affects more than two million Americans and is one of the primary causes of illness and death. The liver frees the body of harmful substances, such as alcohol. Eventually, these problems can disrupt the body’s metabolism and impair the function of other organs” (“Beyond Hangovers: Understanding Alcohol’s Impact on Your Health” 13).

Milk thistle is an herb that I use consistently in my practice. Not only is it a wonderful liver regenerator, it also protects the liver from toxins during allopathic drug therapy. The “active ingredient” in milk thistle is silymarin. When given as an isolated chemical, silymarin can interfere with the liver’s ability to metabolize prescription drugs. This is the opposite effect that silymarin has when administered as whole plant medicine. When used as either a tincture or powdered supplement, silymarin is accompanied by all of the plant’s constituents. This allows the plant to support the liver by assisting it with detoxification instead of interfering with it.
