Quantitative and Qualitative Research Reports Some researchers exclusively use quantitative (one) or qualitative (the other) research approaches citing that there are differences in the two styles. Professing quantitatively an objective truth and a single reality or promoting qualitatively a subjective truth and multiple realities (Castellan, 2010). It is also possible, and maybe even desirable to use both qualitative and quantitative methods combined, but if doing so, the researcher needs to be warned that it is very difficult to maintain the integrity of each approach when completing a comprehensive qualitative study while conducting a sophisticated quantitative study (Castellan, 2010). In this section, the reader should expect to be introduced to the problem that is to be investigated in a particular field of research. It sets up the context and significance of the research by summarizing current understanding and the background information about the top at hand (LLT, 2010). It states the purpose of the work to be completed in the form of the research problem that may be supported by a set of questions that briefly explain the methodological approach used to examine the problem. This highlights the potential outcomes the study may reveal and outlines the structure of the paper (USC, 2017). Literature Review. The literature review is used to describe previous research and how it relates specifically to the current research problem. It should be a combination of the previous literature and the new ideas being researched. Would this article be important to someone, in the graphic design industry? Probably not, so the by conducting this survey in order to indentify brand clusters, the result would probably not be relevant to someone not in the automotive industry and therefore, would not be beneficial for the senior level leader to read. The qualitative research project is extremely relevant for current or future senior level managers to read, as with this type of research report, it is believed that the findings in such a report can facilitate efforts to develop and shape future leaders in any industry.
