In this section, I present the results of my research. For each task carried out, I am presenting the most important data collected.
Task 1. Acquire understanding as to publication preferences
I have already started to research by contacting other students that I know. By conducting this research, I am able to find what would be the best course of action for Belletrist Magazine. The most common response to this survey was that most students preferred both. Although, because of the convenience most people surveyed would ultimately find an online only magazine sufficient. My own research showed that most students would prefer to read an online publication.
A point brought to my attention is that this is mostly true because of the amount of mobile internet capable devices, that most people use throughout the day. This can be cellular phones, tablets and laptops. While Wi-Fi is readily available at almost all cafes and retail establishments. One study suggests that "Not only are children and young people more likely to read on electronic devices than they are to read paper-based materials but they also do it more often” (Coughlan). To make use of throughout my studies. Task 2. Addressing different aspects of available options
There are several different ways that Belletrists Magazine would be able to afford a physical print magazine. I have taken into account subscriptions as a funding option. The cost to print per magazine, according to Short Run Printing, Ltd is $ 2.85, if 500 out of the estimated 14,675 students were to subscribe. Which would leave a total printing costs at $1,425.00 each month. Which would configure to be about $35.00 for an annual subscription.
An additional option for Belletrist Magazine is to have a modern and up to date online magazine. Which of course would still be funded by Bellevue College’s English department and student
