1. Purpose/ problem
A life history the case study with the purpose to emphases a teacher’s ability to engage all students learning by using uncommon teaching methods in uncommonsense times. Furthermore, the study develops the means for a teacher to use multicultural education in the classroom.
2. Research question
How can teachers who challenge commonsense become educators with uncommon teaching practices? How to nurture, support, and sustain perspectives and possibilities for creating uncommon solutions to what have been situated as commonsense problems? (Camp & Oesterreich, 2010)

Rea reflects upon her learning time while in school and regrets not having teachers to guide her studies and understand about her own Navajo traditions. When comes to collegial support, Rea recalls that many teachers attempted to sabotage her teaching practices, and the administration asked her to stop.
6. Results
Students are engaged in Rea’s classroom: they are happy to be there and to learn. Rea’s uncommon method of teaching in commonsense times considers negotiation of power, democracy, and multiculturalism at elementary level.

7. Summary /reflection
In an educational system where teaching to the test seams the best method, uncommon teaching offers hope to teachers that considers using their life experiences, classroom experiences, and research to provide education in their classrooms. Negotiation of power, democracy, and multiculturalism combination in Rea’s classroom is the living proof that aspiring teachers can succeed in commonsense
