There are many factors that influence a person wanting to attend college or not. Some of these factors can be money problems, being indecisive on what you would like to study, and feeling that college is not the best fit for you. Many students come out of high school broke without a job resulting in being unable to pay for college tuition. This affects their ability when getting into college since they simply do not have enough money to pay off college tuition every year. In an interview with my mother, Gloria Chukwueke, I found out how important it is to know what you want to study in college. My mother studied to be a Psychiatric Registered Nurse in college. She always had the thought in her mind to be a nurse even in her younger years. For her growing up, seeing nurses in all white made her happy and that when she found her passion. She stresses the fact that it was a hard process and that it’s essential in today’s job market but that the benefits are very fulfilling. ‘’I love waking up every morning going to work because to me going to my job isn't work to me. It's more of a hobby since it is something I enjoy doing.’’, she said. She explains to me how I must find a job I am excited to go to every morning because it won't feel like work to me but more of a hobby as she says. I don't want to be like other people who work a job that they hate just for the money or just because they thought it was easy for them to major in. In article called Same Job, Higher Salary, It is shown that people with a higher level of education usually make more money than those without one. For example, A Dental hygienist without a degree usually makes 30k but when you have a college degree the number goes way up. The average goes up to 53k which is a 20+ thousand increase in your money earned. One can see this is one of the more straight forward reasons to want to get a college degree. Another side of money and college is the Cost. Some may think that college is very unaffordable, but the truth is that after all the financial aid and scholarships are taken into account college is really that expensive.
