Working as a nurse can help you gain bonding skills, while working together to save an individual's life or to cure a disease. The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate my reflection and understanding in the Role of the Mental Health Nurse in an episode of care supporting and promoting the recovery of service users. While the gentle attributes of women are needed in the care of babies. “A nurse must like people and want to help them, and must also have self-reliance and good judgment, patience, honesty, responsibility, and ability to work easily with others.”(Jacobi). My experience in mental health clinical was very different from any other clinical I had before. In a mental health clinical setting, I am not only treating client’s mental illnesses, I am also treating their medical problems such as COPD, diabetes, chronic renal failure, etc. Therefore, it is important to prepare for the unexpected events. In this mental health clinical, I learned that the importance of checking on my clients and making sure that they are doing fine by performing a quick head-to toes assessment at the beginning of my shift. I had also learned that client’s mental health illness had a huge impact on their current medical illness.
The definition of a Nurse according to Webster’s dictionary (2015) is, “a person trained to care for the sick or infirm, especially in the hospital”. Nurses come in different degrees and experience. The most common nurses seen in nursing homes, hospitals, and medical offices are Certified Nurse Assistants, Registered Nurses, and a Nurse Anesthesias. In this field, nurses deal with every type of patient that comes through the hospital or office doors. These are the people patients talk to and see the most considering the doctor is either careless, occupied, or sleeping. Nurses can have several to little responsibilities depending on their personality and where they work. Either way, nurses have a big job: taking care of people’s loved ones.

Nursing also has its hazards all employees of care facilities are at risk for infectious disease, radiation poisoning, back injuries, shocks from electrical equipment, and hazards posed by compressed gas.
