Pros: it will keep you in good shape, it will keep you out of getting into doing heavy drugs, it will teach you to be more focused and determined to get things done, while your skating it takes all the bad things off your mind and your just focused on doing tricks, it teaches you respect towards people who are just starting out to skate even if they suck and get in your way at the park you still respect them for trying, it teaches you how to just be yourself, you look at things in a different perspective then others like a stair case out front of a building you will think about coming back to it and skating it another day, you don 't do it for the money or sponsors or the attention you do it because you love skating, teaches you to never give …show more content…
What does it take to be a Pro skater: to be a pro skater you need to be good, need to be able to do all the basic tricks, have to get sponsored by companies, put out videos for big brand names to notice you, show up to as many skating events/competitions as you can, skate every day and continue to improve your skills, create a fan base and then more sponsors will start to notice you more, get to be an amateur pro skater first, How skaters are looked upon by other people: they are looked at as bad kids, people that vandalize property, saying they do drugs, saying that they still act like a kid, telling them they need to dress better, they don 't wear there pants right, there shirts are too baggy, there shoes are in really bad shape, always looking for trouble, always getting arrested, going to jail, they wont get anywhere in life, don 't have respect for other people, they wont be able to grow up when the time is needed, Different types of skaters: freestyle skater, vert skater, street skater, park skater, cruise skater, downhill skater, skaters that wear all the pads, skaters that don 't break any laws at all, skaters that break some laws, skaters that don 't wear pads at all, skaters that make an effort to get sponsored, skaters that don 't try top get a sponsor but get one anyway, skaters that show up to all the skating events that happens, slaters that show up to skating events sometimes, people that think there skaters but just have it all just to look …show more content…

After being mesmerized by figure skating at the age of eight, I became a member of the Markham Skating Club. As a competitive figure skater, I must perform various jumps and spins in a choreographed program. I have participated in numerous competitions in Central Ontario and have received multiple medals for my achievements. Yet, my achievement as a figure skater stem from the adversity that I faced throughout my skating journey. This sport has imposed challenges to both my mental and physical strength that have ultimately constructed the qualities of dedication and humility within myself.
During the 1950’s when skateboarding first got it’s legs it was a very popular activity to take part in during vacations to ocean side tourist attractions, or as an activity after surfing. Yet, by 1965, skateboarding had diminished in popularity completely, therefore almost every skateboard manufacturer went out of business. . During this time the only people who even wanted to skateboard were surfers who needed something to ride to practice their surfing while the waves were flat. Due to the fact that there were no skateboards being made or sold, those who wanted to skate had to take it upon them-selves to manufacture their own boards. Using any kind of scrap they could find to build a usable board out of, such as metal scrap pieces or old planks. These determined surfers had to unscrew the trucks and wheels off of roller skates and attach them to the bottom of their boards. And because these kids were from very poor families for the most part, and next to non had jobs of their own, they had to resort to taking the trucks and wheels off the roller skates secretly in the stores. That background voice has been heard by thousands, but many don’t know who it belongs to. It belongs to a petite male, who had awed a great number of people with his vigorous jumps on the Olympic ice skating rink. That voice belongs to Scott Hamilton, who grew up being made fun of, who overcame a number of health problems, who took the challenges life struck him with, for granted. Scott Hamilton is not only considered one of the best figure skaters of all time, but he is also a great role model, because despite the fact that he had a tough childhood, nonstop Olympic practice to deal with, and then later a cancer and brain tumor diagnosis; he always kept a good attitude and determination.

Skateboarding Is Not A Crime Each year hundreds of thousands of skateboarders get arrested each year for just skateboarding and about 5/6 of them didn’t commit a hurtful crime. Every day, at least one skateboarder gets arrested. Skateboarders don’t just get arrested but also get tickets, and there are a lot more tickets than there are arrests. If skateboarding was looked upon as a sport this many arrests and tickets would not occur. A group of teenagers could go out, get drunk then go rob stores and beat up people for no reason but a group of skateboarders are considered criminals.
Skateboarding is a new experience, expressing styles and fashions flourishing creative minds, new abilities, experiences and expanding community. Skateboarding is a highly growing sport in the young community and globally making a change in stereotypes and visual culture.
