Amy Parker is a 37 year old mother of two teenagers. She grew up in England and was raised by her two conscious parents (an artist and a ballet teacher). As a child she was brought up on a healthy diet. She played sports and danced twice a week and drank plenty of water and fresh juice. Even though her lifestyle seemed “healthy” she obtained measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral meningitis, scarlatina, whopping cough and chickenpox, which are vaccine preventable. Parker never received vaccines which made her immune system accessible to be attacked. Unfortunately during Parker’s twenties, she got precancerous HPV, but thankfully she lived. Learning from this tragic experience, Parker has made the decision to vaccinate her two children. Her two children have rarely been ill and they too were brought up on a healthy diet. Vaccinations are like a training course for the immune system. The virus is injected into the blood stream making your immune system susceptible to the infections. Dr. Richard Moskowtiz states, “Vaccines trick the body so that it will no longer imitate a generalized inflammatory response” Vaccines work with your body to fight the infections and then be able to recognize the virus in the future. “Vaccines are portrayed as being indispensable and somehow better at disease protection…” said by Jamie Murphy. This implies that immune system is becoming stronger to fight diseases. Vaccines prepare the body to fight diseases without exposing such serious symptoms.
