“Conspicuously missing from the top tier for perceived credibility is the nightly network news, with a net trust rating of only 43 percent” (Newport). Nightly news networks have a very low trust rating. The news media can be trusted because it presents factual information, and live broadcasts provide real evidence. On the other hand, the news media exaggerates stories to gain views and only gives you one side of the story. Even though the media can be bias and only show one side of the story it still shows factual information. Live broadcasts are proof that the stories are real and true. Most of the news media networks are bias and only show one side of the story. The media will tend to exaggerate stories and make a bigger deal out of thing to get views and popularity. “Negative stories about Trump outpaced positive ones by 13-to-1 on the two networks. Trump's coverage on CBS also exceeded the 90 percent”(Patterson). CBS negative coverage skyrocketed compared to the other networks when trump got elected. CBS negative stories have outplaced the positive stories by 13 to 1 in recent news. “The close relationship between Trump and Murdoch has inspired Fox's most influential on-air personalities to be more emboldened in their own embrace of the president”(Byers). Fox News often ignores and gears away from Trump's downfall because of the relationship they have with him, unlike other networks. Trump has been looked at mostly negatively by all other networks but Fox continues to focus mostly positively on him. None of the networks will give you the whole story, they will just give you snippets of the story.
