Colonizing Mars

Going to a Mars is an idea that is heavily debated in society and whether it is worth all of the government dollars to pursue a mission like this. The concept that will be explained is the idea of colonizing mars, as well as the various effects that it would bring upon humanity. This will includes issues such as Mars’ weather, how we plan on getting there, and what the cost to travel there will be. Past endeavors when it comes to space travel will also be discussed The benefits to humanity will also be discussed, and how having people on Mars may protect the human race if a global catastrophe were to occur.

It can also occur in the very near future given our current political climate today, and the nuclear power that the world has. There are many other precursors for civilization to end such as an asteroid, supernova, or global climate change. If we were to colonize Mars it would act as an insurance for if anything were to happen on Earth. Another issue that Earth has, and is becoming more of an issue is population. The worlds population had grown by 4 billion people over the course of 50 years, and is still rapidly growing. This is expending a lot of Earth natural resources and heavily affecting pollution, so sending people to Mars would be able to distribute the population that we have on Earth today. The first person and most important when it comes to Mars is Elon Musk. Elon who is the founder of SpaceX is at the forefront of this movement; predicting that we will be able to go there by 2022 and have a million inhabitants within 50 years. One of the key reasons that he states as to why we need to travel to other planets is because it is more inspiring to think of a future where we are a space bearing civilization. Some of the steps that he has already taken is launch numerous rockets that are reusable so that we can come back to Earth from Mars. He has also suggested a plan and rocket that will be able to go to Mars which is the BFR. The BFR is a vehicle capable of housing 100 people, and traveling to Mars in 3 months. It is also approximately the same size of the Saturn V rocket that was used by NASA to go to the Moon in December 1972. The BFR isn’t only being developed to go to Mars, but will also be used on Earth to get from place like London to Hong Kong, which would normally take 12 hours, in only 34 minutes. The general public being privy to information such as that will increase the demand for it heavily because they will not only look at it as a vehicle to get to Mars, but the future for international travel on our home
