Columbus’s original destination was for Asia (Indies), but this quest was far too long for his crew to handle. He had an idea that would change his course to arrive in faster timing: Why not sail west across the Atlantic instead of around the massive African continent? He took four separate trips but never actually stepped foot in North America. The Americas he discovered was South America. This of course opened up a new route for future voyages. My idea is what if he never accidentally found the Americas. During one of his four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean from spain, the wind blew his sails to the correct route to the Indies. Columbus, the explorer he was, drew a map of this route in his journal to remember which direction it took to go to Asia. Doing this he never got off course anywhere in the area of the Americas. Europeans extracted resources from Native areas, even when the surplus was low. Land was taken, certain animal population nearly became extinct due to hunting nearly all of them. Columbus also unloaded horses, cows, pigs, wheat, barley, sugar cane. These animals took over local environments and horse population quickly exploded up. No natural predators were there to keep the population so some animals, like horses, grew like wildfire. Even though he brought non native species to America it’s consequence wasn’t as severe as other things he did. If he were to never come to America we not have these animals or they wouldn’t be introduced in till someone else's next
