Growing up Mexican is not easy. Especially if that person is the type to question things because questioning things means they’re talking back. I was considered the bad child and black sheep in my family because I would always questions things and if I see something wrong then I’m going to say it. For example, when I was younger I would always ask my parents, “Why do you have faith on this mystical being that supposedly is going grant your prayer.” Although I was just asking a question, to them I was questioning god which means I was taking back and being disrespectful. Another example, is when I was younger I will hear my aunts gossiping about my parents and brothers. I saw my aunt’s gossiping as something that I needed to tell them to stop.
The Mexican-American War - Debate The Mexican-American war began in 1846, but reasons for the war began much earlier when Mexico made the crucial decision to entice settlers to Texas, with the promise of affordable land grants, actions which eventually led to the annexation of Texas by the United States. All they had to do was accept Mexico 's requirements of becoming citizens, speaking Spanish and converting to Catholicism, this to people who were use to a government that people had rights and freedoms, not experienced in Mexico. Mexico wanted them to develop these long uninhibited lands of Texas, in hopes that it would promote development in the area.(Nardo, 1991, p. 16). The selling of land grants started in the 1820s and the Mexican-American James W. Fannin took over the garrison at Goliad manning it with 350 untrained volunteers with guns, who would be considered pirates to Mexico.
Today we live in a world where war never sleeps. War is a term used to explain conflict between two nations, or within a nation. This particular war was between two nations, Mexico and the United States. About a century and a half ago in 1846, on what was thought to be the Mexican-American border, many American and Mexican soldiers lost their lives. Around the year 1850 conservatives ruled the roost for most Latin American nations. However there was a dividing force that drove a wedge between the people of Latin America. International trade on a regular and large scale had become the focus of national markets. This pushed many liberal ideals to the forefront of business and in turn politics. Although my family’s culture believes that education isn’t necessary their experiences and lifestyles have influence and motivate my choices for my future. America declared war with Mexico because Texas applied to the United States of America for annexation, they were turned down because Congressmen thought it would anger Mexico. Many people have come to America for a better life and to get away from all the troubles of their homeland. These immigrants, like those throughout U.S. history, are generally hard workers and make important contributions to the economy through their productive labor and purchasing power. America is considered a melting pot of many diffrent ethinic group. Immigrants should be able to enter America with little if any resistance from any border patrol. Immigrants in america take the low paying, hard labor jobs that , unfortunately, some americans don't want.
In 1856, a free black barber named James Rapier had four children who were freeborn and told to flee due the the increasingly repressive and dangerous nature that the South had been conforming to. One of his 4 sons chose Canada, where he would study Latin and Greek and said in a letter back to his father that he will “Endeavor to do my part in solving the problems [of African-Americans] in my native land” (P. 418, First Paragraph).

Growing up in a heavily influenced Mexican household, I was raised differently than most of the children in the neighborhood. All my life I saw the prosaic behavior of my father. The kind of Mexican machismo behavior that rose out of a man who spent his life chasing his own impromptu desires. His mindset exemplified the belief that men were supposed to provide for every physical mean, and the lady of the house should not work, but stay at home and perform her motherly duties. I don't blame the senile man, because that was the way he was raised and it became his way of life. My mother allowed this behavior because she was raised under the same principle and was never able to leave that antediluvian mindset. As I got older, I began to realize that in contrast to my father and mother, who are close-minded individuals, I am open-minded. A characteristic forged from my parents mistakes, and one that would help me survive the modern world.
...nd then found myself to be distinctively not like the reaction I found myself / the way I found myself reacting to certain situations) and pretend they wouldn't have an issue with this or that but when faced with a reality of embracing the scenario it can be a very different story. And that's through no fault of their own. I included will believe and think I am capable or ready for something I've never experienced before and when I am confronted with the reality I have been very surprised by my own reactions. Reactions that I was not prepared for and however much I may have disliked what I was seeing about my personality through the reaction I couldn't deny that it wasn't happening. My parents could have said they had no problem with other ethnic children but when confronted with the reality they may have learnt that in fact they were not prepared for the situation.
I would like to to tell you that you are one of many non spanish speaking latinos. You are not the only one that gets disoriented with family members, friends, and stranger when they approach you in spanish or the nasty look you get when other latinos learn you do not speak spanish. Connecting with culture is harder when you do not speak spanish. Identity is lost but I want to tell you that you are and will always be Latino, hispanic, chicano, etc.
Fear and hatred of the unknown has greatly increased in America today. This unknown is a different race of people than the common caucasian in America. This has led to racism of others especially immigrants. People come here to work for a better life for their families, unfortunately the requirements and money to come in to the United States is too much so they come in illegally. People have gone to extreme measures turning to mass deportation and building a wall. A path to citizenship should be created to help the immigrants gain a legal status in America. Illegal Immigrants throughout history have shared America into the great country it is today, and still help maintain the economy and diverse culture of America.
I am Mexican-American. Growing up I would see my parents struggle with finances. I would not ask for much because I knew that they were struggling and I would see it. I could also see other kids with a lot of toys and nice things and wishing I had what they had. I knew that I would not have those things because we did not have enough money for them.
