The two sides of colonization in America Like a coin, the colonization of America has two sides. One good, one bad and in this essay we will go through the consequences and dilemmas of the matter. When the European colonialists arrived in America, they encountered natives of different cultures and instead of being cooperative, they began to pillage, steal from and massacre the natives that led to wars. Diseases brought by the Europeans killed approximately 90% of the Native American population. Land was taken, families were torn apart, and their ways of life were forgotten. The one who successfully first started the process of colonization in America was Christopher Columbus. The Vikings were in North America, but never colonized the place. The new resources, medicine and agriculture that the Europeans got from America, were revolutionizing the world. Without the …show more content…
Back then it was more clarified to do such things, of course it doesn't make it right, but I wonder if these people regretted or felt bad about what they have done. Its interesting to see how humanity has evolved to not praise violence as much as back then. The colonization of America opened up new places for cities and villages, places where people could live. New opportunities for Europeans. They shouldn't have needed to push out the natives to unlivable places. I am sure they could have coexisted. With all of the good that colonization of America brought us, there's a horrible downside that affects the Native Americans. As I said earlier, the Europeans harassed them and took away their way of life. Little compensation has been made, but not enough. The reservations they live on are bad, of course their way of life is not suitable for modern society. But we could do better than those poor
problem could arise between two countries or even multiple countries such as racism or even pollution during this colonization process. The US should not colonize struggling countries in South America
The vanishing of the Native Americans The European colonization of the Americas produced progress for the Europeans but also caused disaster for the native americans. Colonists going to america was a good thing since it increased their economical status. For the native americans it was another story one of horror. Most people when they think of Columbus they think him as a hero and nothing else. Thousands of natives died because of the coming of the europeans to the americas that vanished some
only give a brief synopsis of it: In November 1493 Christopher Columbus discovered the island of Puerto Rico for the country of Spain. It remained a colonization of Spain until 1898 when Spain ceded the island to the United States after the Spanish-American war. In 1917 Puerto Rican’s became U.S. Citizens, but only 24% consider themselves as American (2000 census). Puerto Rico was also granted its own government and constitution, however, it had to be approved by the U.S. congress. Also Puerto Rico
The Colonial Era consisted of Europeans making settlements on the North American Continent. All thanks goes out to Christopher Columbus during his voyage because he brought together Europe, Africa and America and the completion of the voyage by Magellan who also played a part in being the first person to circumnavigate around the world. With Columbus and Magellan leading the way, Portugal and Spain were able to become their own colonizing nations. There was an obvious difference when it came to the

However, France’s problems regarding North American colonization continued to mount: the French army was unable to put down a slave uprising in Hispaniola, and the French were at war with the British (http://www.encyclopedia.com). Realizing that his dreams of American colonization were over, and that he needed money to fund his war, Napoleon, realizing the “futility of his plan” authorized a fifteen million dollar
of Durham’s sculpture, Not Joseph Beuys Coyote, is to use humor in order to reject the typical stereotypes that surrounded Native Americans. The typical stereotype that was displayed in Beuys ' work, and that Durham rejects, is how the coyote is seen as a spiritual being in Native work and also how Native American people are viewed as shamans. This work is similar

essentially constructed around the idea that in reality, immigrants do not offer host countries enough of an economic incentive for their policies to be liberalized. He finishes off his argument by stating that each country will have to weigh the pros and cons of liberalizing their immigration. As a whole Martin believes that immigration brings in many changes, making it extremely hard to predict how they will affect the host country on a multitude of levels. And while I believe in some of the points

1. The Native American societies that grew in Mesoamerica/ South America and northern Mexico/ North America contain similarities and differences. Some of the similarities between these societies were the ways they raised and harvested their crops. These ways helped in trading with other origins and to spread agriculture. Mesoamerica was a clustered area and later these societies became known as chiefdoms. Where as in the North American societies, they were smaller, and “un- evenly distributed”.
There has always been a debate as to which universities are better, Canadian or American. Most of us chose the States as our desired destination due to its collection of highly-ranked, well-known universities. However, this year, like a lot of international students around the world, my peers and I changed our minds and were determined to go to Canada. According to the Atlantic, American universities experienced a 39% decline in international undergraduate students just from the Middle
