The Death Penalty, otherwise known as capital punishment, is the sentence of death, placed upon those who are convicted of a crime that is deemed punishable by death. The state of a country, which is a political group that runs under the rule of the Government, determines the crimes that are applicable for the result of a death sentence, but there is a lengthy process before the execution, and the death penalty is not the most common sentence. The death penalty is not reversible, so a country will often make sure the court cases take a long time to ensure they know the truth. However the death penalty has been abolished in 140 countries in law or practice, and 101 countries have completely abolished it for all crimes. ( Amnesty International.
