It's the first day after spring break, and everyone is either excited to be seeing their friends after the break, or depressed due to the fact that they are back to hell. I was both glad and sad. I was really ecstatic due to the fact that I have just seen my friends as I did not see them whatsoever during spring break on the other hand, I was feeling blue because I will be back to classes, tests and homework, and just thinking about it makes me shudder. Currently, I was talking to my friends. I have two friends; Arden and Youssef. Arden looked like a surfer with blonde hair, green eyes and a tan; Arden is one of my two best friends as we have known each other since I moved here in the beginning of the year. Arden is hated by the popular clique as on the first of school, he chose the nerds over them, and since then they despised them. Youssef ,my other best friend, has short brown hair, blue eyes and he always wore thick black glasses; he was my other best friend. Youssef gets bullied, because he is a Muslim, which I think is terrible, as people should not judge people based on relig...
Winter break was awesome and much needed. It was so tempting to just give up and not return to Pace for my spring semester, but there was still a small part of me that wanted to make my lifelong dream of living in New York City work. I returned to school slightly more optimistic and miraculously acne-free. I was determined to make spring semester my bitch. Having a better attitude and practically perfect skin definitely helped turn my college experience around. I grew closer with two of the girls of my floor and we branched out and started having more fun. Things were getting a little better, but I still wasn’t completely sold on staying at Pace. I was desperately looking for something, anything, to make me stay. Which
Spring Break is a time where you get to relax and spend time off from your teachers and classmates. The two things I liked was getting to spend time with my team and getting eighth place at a state meet.
How was everyone's spring break? Well, my spring break wasn't the best per se, because I didn't do much of anything at least during the week that is. I had Easter with my family on Sunday with us all eating our usual brunch food. My sister and I received our Easter baskets that were filled with the candy we chose and I got the book Me Before You by Jojo Moyes per request. We then went to church where I was forced to where a dress, but I didn't mind this time because was an okay dress. On Monday and Tuesday I spent my days at my at home where I did absolutely nothing. Although on Monday my mom thought it would be nice to visit the Central Library downtown where I spent an hour looking at books before finally choosing to leave with three. I loved visiting that specific library because of, of course, the books, but also the architecture of the building.
Summer vacation. For most children and teens, the phrase conjures up images of hot, sunny days and vacations with the whole family to far-off places. We all envision lazy afternoons relaxing on the beach, playing in water parks, and going on picnics. But what happens when summer ends and the reality of another year of school sinks in?
From elementary to high school, kids from all grade levels get excited over spring break. This well deserved week of vacation is important because it gives us students time to relax before the end of course exams.
Spring break is something that happens all around the world at Universities and schools all over. It started in the 1930’s in the United States, and has spread to many other western countries. This break is normally always associated with gatherings, parties, and vacations to warm places like Daytona Beach, Florida, Arizona, and Cancun or Cabo Mexico. Some facts about spring break around the world, is that South Padre Island in Texas averages 25 arrests a day and collects about $80,000 in fines from all of the college kids that go on vacation. Also, every year between 1.5 and 2 million students in the United States goes on spring break and collectively spends over one billion dollars. Spring break is also known as Easter Vacation, April Break,
This week was challenging, and I enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to read some amazing papers, and to participate in an ethical math discussion. I feel that I'm learning more about myself by interacting with my classmates I never thought that I’d learn so much in so little time. Reading about wonderful organizations, and seeing the impact that they’re having on the community gives me hope for the future. I’m no longer surprised by the things that I’m learning, and reading about similar situations that I’ve encountered is refreshing. I’ve been able to share my stories with others, and it’s been amazing. The course outcomes have been a driving force for my final paper. I’ve used the information that has been presented to enhance my learning
I'm speeding across rooftop, my heart pounding in my chest as I approach the makeshift ramp. With my knees bent, I brace myself, and jump. In midair, I yank on a chain attached to my harness and large mechanical wings spread out on either side of me. They were my best friend, Reia's latest creation. The wispy, handcrafted brass feathers match the ones on my goggles.
Well, here we are. The last year of middle school. To some this may be exciting. For there a being given a chance to spread their wings and move on to more challenging and new experiences. But to some this may just be another inevitable step towards reality, and all the hardships that may come with it. Regardless of that, I want to congratulate all of the students, teachers, and faculty for the fact that they put up with all of us for about 288 days, and that you may enjoy the how many days we have of summer break. Also, I would like to thank all the parents and families that came to this celebration today, and that I wish you have an amazing summer break too.
My spring break was great! Just kidding, i didn’t really do much. I went to work and illinois. There wasn’t much i could do because i had to work. That's all i have been doing is working and school.
In General Prologue to The Canterbury Tales the character of Chaucer as the narrator serves as our guide to the action. Chaucer narrates as if he is in the moment himself, just meeting these pilgrims for the first time, and he makes the audience as though they are right there with him. At other times, though, Chaucer is a narrator who seems to know more than he ought to. For example, he tells us that, when the Shipman wins a fight, he murders the loser by throwing him overboard, or that the Reeve is stealing from his master. Are these really stories people would tell Chaucer when first meeting him? Chaucer also seems to know a suspiciously large amount about each pilgrim everyday lives. At these moments, Chaucer acts much more like an omniscient, or all-knowing, narrator, rather than one who's truly in the heat of the action. The reason for this choice could be that verisimilitude, or making things seem like real life, was not as important to a medieval author as it is to authors today. Instead, the narrator might choose to tell whatever he wants in order to better serve the purposes of characterization. The narrator makes it quite clear that he is also a character in his book. Chaucer creates an ‘alter ego’, a pilgrim called ‘Geoffrey’, who is the naïve narrator of the pilgrimage story, commenting on his fellow-pilgrims, and providing the links which join many of the Tales. This further extends Chaucer’s narrative possibilities, enabling him to open up another layer of opinion other than his own. In the General Prologue, the narrator presents himself as a gregarious and naïve character. Later on, the Host accuses him of being silent and sullen. Because the narrator writes down...
...as at lunch time, the sixth of January 2009, when I surprised my friends that I was back. They were excited and speechless, and I felt as if I were dreaming.
In life we come across many people. Some will hate us while others will adore us. The ones who hate us can be referred to as enemies and the ones who show us adoration are referred to as friends. There are three types of friends. They are the aquaintinces we make in school, the friends we loose as one grows, and best friends who may stray, but never too far away.
Almost at the age of seven, I made a friend named Dani. I liked being with her because she was always smiling. We played together and giggled a lot. Sometimes, she’d randomly dance, spin around, or run away alone, but I never cared or wondered why. One day, there were these older kids pointing and laughing at her. I skipped up to them. “Dani’s my friend,” I blurted out happily. They laughed even harder.
Today is the day. The day we have all had that bitter sweet feeling towards. We are all so excited to return to school. The fresh, new, stylish pieces
