2.0 PROGRAMME MONITORING AND REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
In essence, programme monitoring and review processes in relation to modules and programmes are ‘self-reflective, self- critical processes’ concerning the performance and effectiveness of the modules and programme under consideration. These processes are thus essentially developmental and formative in nature, so as to determine actions for further enhancement’, (Southampton Uni doc) and to systematically update them so as to maintain coherence (teqsa).
Programme monitoring and review are linked processes, as seen in Diagram 1.
Diagram 1: Process of Monitoring and Review
Diagram 1 shows that various sources of information such as examiner and benchmark reports, students’ performance; students’ evaluation of teaching, alumni and industry feedback, changes in policy are collected for the module monitoring. These are analyzed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the module and the areas requiring change and improvement. The monitoring is undertaken by the module coordinator in conjunction with the module team. The results of the monitoring are fed into the annual programme monitoring process, and eventually, into the periodic programme review.
The annual programme monitoring focuses on the maintenance of the quality of the students’ educational experience and improvement of the delivery system. As explained in section XXX, the periodic programme review is undertaken less frequently than the annual module and programme monitoring, and is comprehensive in scope, aims and processes.
Table XXX below outlines the major features of module monitoring, annual programme monitoring and periodic programme review.

Organise dates and times with team meetings so standardisation actions can be considered. Ensuring assessors have experience and knowledge in the area of their subject. Information from the assessor as to what is to be monitored from which candidate and when. When completing in a summative stage, you would be checking the full assessment process with signatures and dates on all documents, maintaining accurate records throughout the IQA
Summary reports are a way of replacing report cards as a way of showing parents and administrators the progress students have made. The purpose of summary reports is to really compile and breakdown both the portfolio and the checklists. The summary reports really give the parents an easily understandable version of what they are looking at in their child’s work sampling file. These reports are done at least three times a year. The reports normally include a narrative and rating scales. These reports are also a way for teachers to examine themselves and see how far their students have come, it also teaches them to watch children more closely, and that observations are the biggest and most important part of the work sampling
Ensure that effective measurements and monitoring mechanisms are in place to determine whether implemented solutions have yielded predicted benefits and to drive continuous process improvement.

This is referred to as formative assessment. Second, it is used for certification for progress; and third, as a tool to determine who is granted a privilege such as board certification or graduation and thus serves the role of accountability or quality assurance to stakeholders. The stakeholders involved in the context of undergraduate medical education include patients, general public, healthcare employers, professional and regulatory bodies, training organizations, universities, medical schools, the examinees and individual teachers (Amin et al. 2006). The second and third purposes of assessment are included under summative assessment. Thus, assessment provides us with the opportunity to ‘discover the worth’ and to ‘improve the quality’ of education. The process of achieving these two goals of ‘discovery of worth’ and ‘improvement of quality’ constitute sound assessment practice which must meet the following criteria: validity or coherence, reproducibility or consistency, equivalence, feasibility,
Monitoring is the ongoing process of measuring and analyzing to ensure that quality controls are maintained. It is generally less formal than auditing and performed by the organizations staff. Auditing in contrast, is a more structured and formal approach to analyzing quality control operations. Someone who is independent of the organization performs audits. At the conclusion of an audit formal recommendations are also provided for areas of improvement.
There a three main stages to assessment the start of a course when Initial and diagnostic assessments should take place these methods are used to identify the learners suitability learning levels and learning needs for their chosen course. The second stage would be the middle of the course where I would want to use continuous assessment methods such as peer assessment and self assessment too ensure that the learners are making the correct progress, all of these methods have formative assessment roles that allow the learner to improve whilst learning. Finally there would be a final assessment this could be a written exam end of module test or performi...
If you ask the average person about projects they will more than likely name a construction project. Project management is really a part of construction because each assignment is actually a new project. The key to success in the construction industry is to become efficient in completing these projects discovering innovative to complete processes faster and innovative equipment to complete activities faster. Construction projects range from repairing, remodeling, and building bridges, houses, roads, etc. Construction projects are normally contracted and paid after work is completed. An example of a construction project is the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, which was the largest civil works project ever designed and built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE). More than 114 major contracts were awarded in 14 years in the amount of $2 billion to complete the 234 mile waterway. The new management system employed by COE promised to reduce the time it took to bring water projects from feasibility study to construction was proven when the TENN-TOM was completed 18 months ahead of time and within budget. The new management system revised the project review and approval procedures, clearer designation of organizational roles, closer monitoring of project costs, new strategic planning, and concurrent handling of project authorizations.
The review mechanism enables leaders to measure the performance of their managers, especially in the key result areas: marketing; innovation; human organization; financial resources; physical resources; productivity; social responsibility; and profit requirements.
