Professional Wrestling Should Not Be Viewed by Children
For years and years professional wrestling has been loved and watched by children everywhere. They idolize their favorite superstars and despise their most hated. They stay up late on each and every Monday night to watch the muscular grapplers. Although it sounds like everything is all well and good, there is a problem. In the past 24 months professional wrestling has become too raunchy for young children. The fact of the matter is this, wrestling in the late nineties is not for kids.
There are many reasons for this but perhaps the most prominent is there is too much sex, violence and bad language on the program. They have done many extreme things that should only be seen by mature adult viewers. The most criticized and severe thing in which they have produced would have to the stunts pulled off by a devil worshipper named The Undertaker. This possessed individual has crucified superstars on more than one occasion and he has even hung an opponent after beating him senseless. This material is very offensive to many people and because of this the WWF received thousands of complaints from worried parents who did not want their childern watching but they did not succumb to the protesters and they kept giving their mature fans what they wanted. Next, they began to push the sex aspect of their product. They brought out scantily clad women and had them fight and claw and even rip each others clothes off. They have even play with the idea of having a woman lose her bra "accidentaly". This would be terrible because thousands of kids would see a sight which they should not be seeing..They continued to give controversial angles and their ratings cvontinued to skyrocket to unprecid...

As one can see Pro Wrestling is not for kids and should be edited heavily.
Surprisingly, many Americans share my point of view and enjoy this sort of entertainment. The WWF’s core market personality is an American male, between the ages of 12-35, very similar to professional football. The WWF provides high flying action, crushing hits, and exciting finishes; not much different than the NFL. Vince McMahon is attempting to extend the short NFL season and capture America’s passion for football while marketing more of his merchandise - not the best business idea in my view.
Another reason the XFL will survive and prosper is its business savvy. Vice McMahon, who established himself as the owner and founder of the WWF, has proved to be a marketing genius. In a 50-50 partnership with NBC, who pumped in 50 million dollars and marketing muscle, Vince is targeting 13-24 year old males for his new football league.This target audience of 13-24 year old males just happens to be the same target audience of his WWF, which should make cross promotions a breeze (Efferon 31).
...not restrict violence in movies as much as it restricts sexual content, it allows children of young ages to be exposed to violent content, which could have serious consequences in the child’s future.
In conclusion, wrestlers should not cut weight rapidly or starve themselves. It can lead to psychological damage, damage to the wrestler’s current body, and their future health. They are willing to risk their lives, but we all should want them to rethink before they do such a thing. We need to show our care and compassion for saving a life. Coaches could take the next step and punish a wrestler for loosing weight too fast and make them sit out. Coaches should also educate the team on how to eat nutritiously and safely. All in all, the behavior of wrestlers has improved in the past twenty years, but there is more that everyone can do to help stop the cutting of weight.
In today’s world of multimedia it has become extremely hard to avoid the introduction of adult themes to younger children, who lack the maturity to process and question the information. Young people are bombarded continually with unsuitable and undesirable concepts that give false images of acceptable behavior. Music, movies, television, internet and video games are accredited with the moral deterioration of present day youth. Great strides have been made to establish rating guidelines, parental controls and warning labels that assist adults in making informed choices on what their children should or should not be able to access but they are not perfect.
Today’s kids are growing up faster and maturing at a faster rate than ever before. Twenty years ago it would be impossible to show breasts in a PG-13 movie. Today, kids are being taught the fasts of life younger than anyone could of imagined. This is all due to older brothers, the Internet and schools teaching kids about sex at the age of twelve. If everything else is changing except the rating’s no one is going to obey the law.
Steve Austin's strength is envied by some of the world's best wrestlers. This is to be expected because for any man to become Heavy Weight Champion, he would have to be strong. On numerous occasions he has lifted 300 pound men over his head and tossed them out of the ring into the crowd, or body slammed them into tables with ease. "Stone Cold" has been faced with some of the most difficult tests of strength, like when he faced Mankind, a notoriously strong wrestler. When Austin gained the upper hand in the match, Mankind's tag team partner, 355 pound Kane, stepped into the ring to help. However, Kane's strength combined with Mankind's was no match for the "Stone Cold Stunner". The "Stunner" is Austin's finishing move ,in which he grasps his opponent's neck, twists so they are back to back, then jumps into the air with the force of a rocket, and falls putting so much pressure on his neck that he goes unconscious. This powerful move gained Austin his fame and the loyalty he receives from his fans.
Children have been exposed to the celebrity lifestyle in rock music videos all their lives. Today, our society likes to take time off to relax and watch a movie. Do you think it’s relaxing to watch people die and constantly be injured? Well most of the movies out today are violent. Even thought here are strict rating rules put on these movies, children are still seeing them. For example, The Power Rangers Movie. In this movie, five teenagers take on the roles of fighters. When kids view this PG rated movie they see how cool it is to kill other creatures and human beings. About three weeks after this movie was released in Chicago, two kids were playing power rangers; they decided to take the game a step further by involving pencils used as swords. This game ended with one of the two kids with serious incisions from the pencil. This situation could have easily been avoided if some of these movies were not so violently oriented.
Nonetheless, some parents are still very reluctant to put their kids in football or rugby. This, I believe, is why high contact sports could eventually perish. Fewer and fewer kids are playing sports each year where there is an elevated risk of a head injury or concussion. (Paine) Parents do not want to gamble with their children’s mental ability and thus deny their children the opportunity to participate in high contact sports. In some sports, they have changed all sorts of rules and almost completely changed the game to ensure player safety. For instance, Hockey Canada called for a rule change to delay body checking in minor hockey. Instead of having the kids learn how to hit in PeeWee (ages 11-12), they have pushed it back an age group to Bantam (Ages 13-15). (CBC Sports) Parents were becoming too nervous about placing their children into a sport where there was hitting or hard body interaction for absolutely no reason. Why spend thousands of dollars for your child to play a contact sport and risk having them injured when there is little chance of making it as a professional athlete. Remember the days where the kids used to holler and run in the park, and swing in playgrounds on nice summer afternoons while the parents sat on benches. Maybe they had a soccer lesson after and played a basketball match with friends at YMCA. But today, kids run with sports gear to tournaments conducted by "elite" Little Leagues, while the parents who drove all over town to find the stadium settle down into the bleachers ready to observe every move their kid makes in the game. Young children are exposed to violence every day. In TV shows, books, games, cartoons, movies, and the internet, violence is a part of everyone’s lives, but especially those of young kids. For example, recently Paramount Pictures released Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, a weapon slinging twist on a classic fairy tale (McKay). In the movie they have people blow their own heads off with a shotgun. In retrospect this movie isn’t meant for children 13 and below, although kids would want to see a “fairy tale” like this. Without wrestling, there would be no fighting, no self-defense options or maneuvers, or any way for someone to be in the best shape of their life, without being in the military or special workout programs. Involved and used in everyday life, wrestling is not given the credit or respect that it deserves, for the sole fact that it is no football or basketball, and people don’t usually grow up doing it everyday in the local neighborhoods. There is a great deal of outrage from people who are reading stories about the misconduct of professional athletes and connecting them to a crusade against child abuse. I'm against child abuse. Isn't everyone? However I'm not against spanking.
Wrestling is a great sport to better yourself and earn a bunch of awards and titles to look back on later on in life. It 's something i will never forget and cherish always. But the memories of losing all the weight and making myself miserable for all those seasons is something i will not miss. People around me were only worried about the medals i had gotten and not about my personal being, that 's where wrestling goes wrong. That 's what needs to change in the future for not only wrestlers but the people around them as well.
