The professional position I aim to obtain next is Behavioral Health Worker. A Behavioral Health Worker in most cases will implement specific school based behavioral plans, track measurable objectives, and communicate progress through notes, reports and supervision. As a general overview Behavioral Health workers perform these task as key roles and responsibilities. Behavioral Health Worker also provides behavior management support, emotional support and psychological rehabilitative activities to children and adolescents within a wide range of disabilities. They provide interventions to a children or adolescents at schools when the behavior without intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or education setting. Behavioral Health Workers assists teacher and or unique caregiver with implementation of behavioral plans. Other functions of this position are supervise/monitor activities of child/adolescent in accordance with the behavioral plan with the emphasis on prevention rather than intervention and prevent crisis situation however when necessary deescalate children in crisis.
This role is performed typically in organizational setting such as schools, treatment centers, and hospitals. Educational background for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines, which includes Human Service fields including, but not limited to Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, and Criminal Justice. This position requires at least one year verified full-time paid experience working in direct contact with children or adolescents with special needs. ...classroom aide. I have worked as a GED tutor and classroom aide for three years. During this time I worked closely with students with documented special needs. In addition, I have previous experience working with the high school students with an Americorps Scholars in Service program as a lead tutor and college mentor. In this position I monitored students’ progress and worked one-on-one providing academic and personal support for adolescents.
Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Solid oral and written communication skills including business writing, proper grammar and spelling. Good organization skills including the ability to prioritize work and manage conflicting deadlines. The ability to work well with others. The ability to handle conflicts with diplomacy and tact. The ability to listen and evaluate objectively.
